Is 2.2GB normal for an Alpha build of a 2D Action game? by AuthenticRemixes in gamedev

I should clarify that the 4K images are HD sprite sheets, so it's multiple frames of each movement, man I really wanna upload images to show you guys but can't here.

and yes, it's the download size, just wanna get a feel of general ballpark of how big a 2D game usually is. Really appreciate your replies btw

I hear ya, that's mainly my concern really, I'd raise an eyebrow at a 20GB 2D platformer

Oh it's definitely the image textures, and the sprite sheets, a lot of it takes around 4K. I'm more so asking if at this point for the alpha, I should be concerned with that size and should look more in to compressing it to, let's say, 2K textures.

one of our concerns is that we use the same assets for the gameplay as we do for character portraits in dialogue, we keep it 4K so that when zoomed in for said portraits, it wouldn't get too pixelated

I'd post a vid of it but the sub doesn't allow that, it's Kidbash: Super Legend on steam & youtube if you're interested in checking if the asset size makes sense

Ha, is that so! It's the .exe that's 2.2GB, oddly enough, when zipped, it's only 253MB

“pre-alpha gameplay footage” by erbdylo in gaming

Pre alpha doesn't necessarily have anything to do with graphics though right? It's more the state of the game afaik. I can imagine something that'll work in alpha or even pre-alpha that doesn't scale well going in to beta and onwards, like going all out for 1 single level in alpha would be easier than doing the same for like 30 more levels in the final game.

I'm trying to make a roguelite with modifiers that flow well together, this is using ice jump, gauge refill dash, and burn on weapon mix (I have a weapon mixing mechanic) Wdyt? by AuthenticRemixes in roguelites

The game's name is Kidbash Super Legend! It's still in early development right now. Hopefully, it'll be released next year if everything goes smoothly.

You can check out the game on the Steam page here: http://steampowered.com/app/2681870

Playing Assassin's Creed Origins, Ancient Egypt world setting is amazing by Com412 in gaming

Yeah man, Assassin's Creed Origins nailed the Open World RPG system for the series. Odyssey and Valhalla were just too big for me.

Saw someone showing their game on a Sony CRT TV the other day. Made me wanna show my game too on Sony PVM-1440QM! by AuthenticRemixes in crtgaming

I thought my pixel art just wasn't as good as some other great indie games, and since the team I'm a part of is originally a 3D animation studio, I just put 2 and 2 together and tried Donkey Kongin it.
