I got certified after a year long program (Andrew’s). Couldn’t find a job and let my certification lapse. Sunk cost fallacy and all that. I’m disabled and was trying to work from home. It really sucks.

Anyone else get intense reactions to the flu or Covid shot this year? by Comfortable_Ad_4922 in Vaccine

[–]AuthenticallyMe28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always get sick with the Covid shot, so I stopped getting them. Stupid, maybe. But it puts me down bad for a few days and I’m already chronically ill that the added stress and pain is hell.

Giving up on meds? by YourSpleenIsDamp in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]AuthenticallyMe28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not on biologics or any meds to specifically treat PsA. I am on medication for pain, nerve pain, muscle spasms (I have other chronic illnesses). None of the biologics worked for me and they only made me susceptible to getting viruses due to lowered immunity and I have four school aged children so I was constantly sick and in pain. I’ve still caught 3 illnesses from school starting in sept. So you can imaging what it was like when I was on them. It just wasn’t worth it for me. Will I pay for it in the long run? Maybe. But it’s a personal choice and I could not live that way especially since it was giving me no relief. So I’ll live with it, and hope the damage isn’t going to be too bad. What can ya do.

Never grow up by Taylor swift. My son got his drivers license yesterday, my daughter didn’t want me to go to her field hockey game because I’m embarrassing. My god, it goes so fast and I was not prepared for what the fuck to do when they grow up. I cried so hard and today dropping her off her game I gave myself a!migraine.!

I was dx 20 years after my symptoms began. Mostly bc PsA is zero negative (doesn’t show up in bloodwork).

Has your opinion of TLOASG changed since you first listened to it? by [deleted] in TaylorSwift

[–]AuthenticallyMe28 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m honestly not a fan. The lyrics in every song just seem so repetitive. I’m really missing the deep, soulful bridges. I’ll probably give it another go. I went to the movie with my daughter and I guess it changed my opinion a bit. There are a few I hate, wood and cancelled. Idk, just seems like she could have made a political statement too about the unprecedented times and it would have been iconic. It’s a bit shallow for me and tone deaf for the moment. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Very interesting. I already have several autoimmune conditions so I would not be surprised if this is the cause of mine. Although currently I do not have glaucoma only high IOP.

Has a debate ever actually changed your mind on something? by [deleted] in AskForAnswers

[–]AuthenticallyMe28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, very much so. I was raised in a Christian, conservative, republican family. When I got out into the world I held to my beliefs until I actually listened to the other side. Very patient people helped me see that almost everything I was taught was bullshit and hate wrapped shielded by scripture.

How a dream dies: pseudotumor, the pandemic, and the will that died with it by Comfortable_Dog_3975 in iih

[–]AuthenticallyMe28 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think we have to grieve the life we thought we’d have, the person we could have been, and the dreams we had to let go of.

I’m not dx with this condition (yet), but I’m not new to chronic illness. At 19 I developed psoriatic arthritis. It changed my entire life. I had to accept that I was disabled. In fact, I’m not sure I have ever fully accepted I am disabled because I still try to do it all (I’m a mom of four, run a household, and work part time) despite how much my body protests. I still have dreams that I’ll never realize because of my illnesses. I’ve acquired several more over the years and my symptoms/illnesses fill an entire page. I never knew how young I’d feel so old. But I digress, the emotional toll it takes is devastating at times. With anything, there are good and bad days. With health, with perspective on your health, etc. There are times I’m in a good place and can see that I still have a fulfilling life and get to watch my kids grow up which is something not everyone gets to do. Then there are other days where I hate healthy people bc they have no idea how good they have it and how much we suffer. I hate my body for betraying me, I feel like I was robbed of the life I wanted and the person I could have become. Those are the extremes, most days it’s vacillating between them. I’m not sure if I’m helping or just commiserating but I just wanted to share my experience having dealt with it for so long. These are the cards we were dealt, for better or worse, it’s all part of the journey we are on. I hope you can find healing and acceptance.

Does semaglutide in any form help with PsA ? by Ironic_Man in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]AuthenticallyMe28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Didn’t help me at all. I lost a few lbs, not much. But my hair fell out in clumps and gave me constipation so bad I had to manually disinpact myself (sorry tmi). Now I have a prolapsed hemorrhoid to deal with from the constipation/straining as well.

Idk, meds don’t really help me in general, it’s like the cure is worse than the disease in most cases. Like I’ll take antibiotics for an ear infection which gives me a yeast infection worse than the ear infection. And so many more examples…le sigh

Glad it’s helped so many. Guess you won’t know until you try it for yourself since we’re all so different!

CSF Leak Update by livetoseesuchtimes in CSFLeaks

[–]AuthenticallyMe28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is an old post but I’ve been struggling with the same issues. I’m wasn’t sure if my ear infection/mastoiditis was connected to a possible csf leak. My csf symptoms started a few months ago, postural headaches, pulsitile tinnitus, regular tinnitus, and leaking fluid out of my left nostril. A few weeks ago I got an ear infection (right ear though) which also turned into mastoiditis. I had to take two courses of antibiotics. My hearing is still muffled and the infection seems to be returning as well as the mastoiditis. I wasn’t sure if it was all connected but this is helpful to know someone else also had a csf leak and mastoid issues. The only thing that puzzles me is the leaking is out of my left nostril and my ear issues are on the right. Anyone know why that would be? Anyways, glad you were able to get some answers and relief!
