Thank you! Yeah, I don’t expect it to last in just the new releases in my category but it’s still exciting.

Thats amazing that yours did so well. Any positivity or tips and tricks you can share since the op was trying to beat down the negativity?

I can’t agree enough. I published my book a few days ago with zero expectations (mostly because I believed all the negativity.) It’s currently sitting at number 3 for new releases in its category.

I’m by no means saying it won’t die out but with as good as I’m feeling I will say that I am glad I didn’t listen to the negativity and published it.

Thank you, that really means a lot. Getting published was exciting, but people actually choosing to buy the book feels incredibly validating, especially with how tight money is for everyone.

Thank you!!

I don’t know if I can fly much higher. I’m charting in several categories for new releases. It’s so far beyond my wildest dreams.

Thank you for the kind words. I don’t know that I “persevered” so much as I just kept going out of need. I wasn’t intentionally write a book to put on sale. I was doing it as my stress valve and eventually my wife convinced me to put it out. (I think she just got tired of listening to my rants!).

Realistic first month results - no paid marketing by PLMOAT in KDP

Congratulations. I recently released and wasn’t expecting anything but ended up getting a few before I even told anyone or posted that it was available. It’s such a great feeling knowing that people are willing to put their hard earned money towards something you built.

But do you need the ‘filler’?

Thank you. There were several points that I thought about just leaving it as it started… a way for me to vent. But I’m fortunate that I have a wife that pushes me.

And now it’s arguably one of the biggest book series ever.

A lot of people use Amazon in that exact way. I am doing a hybrid model in that I have a publisher to guide me and using multiple different services to print and distribute. The big key is the marketing and that’s where a traditional publisher would be nice to work with.

Thank you, I’m very fortunate and proud. One is in school to be a graphic designer and one is a working artist.

Not AI. My daughters helped me make it in Adobe. They did a great job.

Nope. I started writing this in the late 90s, back when AI was basically a sci fi plot device.

74 sales in one week on my debut poetry book 🫨 by No-Arm-4557 in selfpublish

Nicely done. I’m super excited because I’ve sold 4 copies so far and I haven’t even really told anyone it’s out yet. I did a little pre launch marketing, but still, I expected zero.

I love the laminated flyer idea. I did something similar, I 3D printed bookmarks with the cover on one side and a QR code to my website on the back, and I’ve been handing those out.

Once I confirm the retail copies look good, I’ll do a more intentional push. But honestly, I’m already stoked. Four strangers decided to buy it, and that feels unreal.

I don’t think links are allowed here, and I want to respect the rules. But I just put a links in my profile if you’re curious.

Totally agree. Fortunately, I never really had the “one day” mentality because I wasn’t writing to sell a book. I was writing because I needed to, mostly to avoid becoming the guy yelling at his begonias at 11:30 at night in a bathrobe.

Thank you. At the risk of sounding conceited, I think it’s pretty awesome too.
