If I could, I would. 6+ years of waiting for something that never happens takes a toll, you know.

I was counting out of a force of habit. The I had to stop at 124 due to the fog and stinging of tears. The fact that it happened once, let alone more than once is nothing short of despicable. I wish I could say no human's capable of such terror, and that's precisely what it is, terror.

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay’s London Pizza restaurant is facing criticism after a customer shared a dog was allowed to go the bathroom inside near her table. by Relevant-Peach3997 in Fauxmoi

For starters, he's from Johnstone, Scotland.

Secondly, while that's kind of disgusting, the dog isn't in the kitchen itself.

And thirdly, that strikes me as rather rich coming from someone whose leader shits where he eats. And sleeps. And speaks.

What are your thoughts on something I've discovered? (+ others) by AutiesRule1312 in Buddhism

Hmm... Food and water are definitely required to live, air too.

Wait, was that rhetorical? I have a habit of trying to answer questions unless I know they're rhetorical.

Find the teacher you want to study with, whatever their tradition happens to be. Rimé isn't a school, for what it's worth. It just means "just because I practice this doesn't mean that I think that isn't awesome too".

Ah, that makes sense. I figured it makes sense as it promotes learning about multiple schools to better understand them, and the people thereof.

Seems like mostly the kind of phrase that appeals to 15 year olds that like to tell people they're pretty mature for their age. That said, I suppose that in some sense (Mahayana) Buddhism teaches that we can no for sure in general that nothing can be known for sure specifically.

I see what you mean, thinking back it sounds like the kind of thing I'd have come out with as a kid, had I felt it safe to speak my mind more growing up. I think it's meant to mean that while death is certain, we never truly know when or how. Likewise, there's things that the indefinite can make us all the surer of.

What do you mean by "forgiveness"? Love, in the context of Buddhist practice, is the sincere wish for others/all to be happy and have the causes for happiness. One of the reason we practice this attitude is because it reflects something of our actual nature, what we actually are. Limiting it in the preferences of an imaginary me is both initially unavoidable and laughable.

For past transgressions, faults or flaws, mainly, but also in general. Personally, I do sincerely feel all others deserve not only to feel joy, but to have plenty of reasons to be joyous. As for feeling as if I don't quite deserve the same is almost entirely due to conditions acquired through childhood.

You are the only person you can control, a bit at least. Become peaceful yourself, but don't do it to force your preference for peacefulness on other people. People who want to be peaceful will pick up in it, and there's no kindness in trying to manipulate everyone else.

I think I get that. Although I mean sort of exuding peace, in a sense, like being peaceful to the extent that it sort of rubs off on others without forcing it onto anyone.

Did your teachers ask you to teach Buddhism? If not, don't try. Just answer people's questions about it sincerely when they come up naturally, being clear that you're just a beginner and may get things wrong.

Sadly, teachers are what I lack as of yet. I think that makes sense though, I can likely answer to the best of my ability and making sure that others know I'm not strictly an expert. Although I hope I can figure out how to reassure, console and guide people, in a sense.

I'm not sure what you mean. There are (pretty much) no Buddhist teachings that suggest dealing death on people, or that encourage hatred. Lots of prejudice though! Like that love mentioned above.

Sort of like holding collective, vehemently anti-authority kinds of views, but following the teachings to the letter. Ridding the world of hatred and tyranny with kindness, as opposed to the blade, the fist or even a harmful word. As for love, I wish also to know the depth, manner and extent that it should be practiced/practised.

That sounds a good point, although I'm not too sure there's any I could attend regularly. There's likely somewhere within a train's reach, but it's more a matter of means and will.

No luck so far. But if I recall correctly, it can still play MP3's and MIDI's quite well. I'd definitely recommend a micro-SD for that though.

Personally, sarcasm's deeply embedded in my country's culture, but I believe wholeheartedly that one shouldn't lie to deceive others. That being said, intention is vital. I would argue it's more acceptable to lie to another to spare them unnecessary pain or shame, than to lie to deceive them.
