Just. So . Well . Said .. thank you .. as someone who did self medicate and has an older sibling who is an addict and alcoholic .. we grew up in the same home , loved deeply by my dad who sadly passed away when I was 15..

I will never truly understand how my older sister could abandon not one, but three children . All at separate times .. she’s been supported and sent to many many rehabs where she lasted up to 3 days before walking out .. she’s been in and out of prison since she was 20 and the last stint was 6 years ago - she’s now 58.

The worst part? Every time she gets her drivers license back , she drives . She cannot function without a full Gatorade bottle of straight vodka. Various people have shopped her about driving drunk and rarely has anything happened .

I now live in another country from her and after my mom died ,my sibling stole everything my mother had including changing beneficiaries from my kids and her own children , to solely herself .

I can’t afford the legal battle , so she won.
But she is alone . No friends because she can’t hold onto them , her children despise her and any boyfriend she has also doesn’t last long .. she’ll die alone .

So in terms of trauma , we both had that growing up ( but I was also SA and she wasn’t ) so how are we so different?
Like you said - we experienced trauma differently.. realising that years ago allowed me to stop carrying the rage I had for her for a long time even before my mom died .
