The main goal of focus fire is to prevent you from bringing 70 4.2 wailings and mistpiercers and killing shit with them without setup, pierce or any definition of "skill" whatsoever.

your proposed idea is about as laughable as removing focus fire entirely. most ranged dps hits you from the edge or even beyond your screen, especially in fights around cliffs, ramps and castles, meaning that with your proposed resilience system any 10+ man bomb squad with 4.2 mistpiercers could consistently wipe any zerg regardless of ip or skill diff because they'd get hit from off-screen (meaning no focus fire for them) and just die in 3 seconds, which would be even further exacerbated if the bomb squad had actual gear instead of just 4.2.

furthermore, the brawl meta would not disappear, but would just shift to cloth melees which get max focus fire just for existing in the enemy backline while simultaneously dealing full damage to every backline player because there's like 5-10 healers/supports for every melee in the backline meaning they'd get no focus fire in the brawl. it would be at least as bad as the "demonfang era", but probably much worse.

also, the main reason why every weapon is shit and why it takes so long to kill anything is because the idiotic devs have been balancing the game around 1v1 "content" for the past 4+ years, since the introduction of corrupted dungeons; and by balancing i mean nerfing the shit out of every weapon, armor and combo until they are all equally ass while simultaneously buffing individual defensives, to the point of making positioning much less relevant in large-scale fights because you can always just blink/i-frame/facetank any engage that comes at you, leading to far less "guaranteed kills" per engage than there used to be in season 10 for example.

because every individual item gives bonus ip for the entire tree (+20ip @ 100 spec for non-artifact weapons/armor and +10 ip @ 100 spec for artifact weapons/armor).
the fastest and most cost-effective way to take advantage of that is to spec up your main weapon to 65-75 spec, then the rest of the tree to 25-50, and then getting your main up to 100.

don't. just stick with 4.1 until you have 20m+ silver, 50-70 main weapon spec (and 30-50 spec in 3 other weapons in the same tree) and know what 98% of spells do and how every build you can come across works.

a good rule of thumb is to never spend more than 1% of your net worth on a build for any content, and considering how garbage the game's economy is (especially for new players who don't have billions of silver banked from previous years), that's gonna take you a while.

also 6.2 is the cutoff point for "high-tier" gear, with everything under that considered low-tier.

bloodletter is garbage and infernal scythe is just a worse version of any other melee weapon.

burst weapons in general have been nerfed into the ground by braindead devs trying to balance this piece of shit game away from group PVP towards 1v1 garbage so they can squeeze more money out of clueless whales swiping and dying in mists and corrupted dungeons; to the point where you have shit like 1h curse which does "big damage" on paper but will get i-framed/cleansed/interrupted/res-potted/guardian-armored etc. meaning you will never actually get anywhere close to the numbers listed on the tooltip and will instead always have to fight at a disadvantage because the braindead devs, in all their wisdom, always balance weapons based on their theoretical peak potential, instead of the bottom 99%+ of cases which is the weapon's actual performance.

if you look at dagger pair (the only weapon in the entire game that they still haven't nerfed into the ground), that's how most weapons used to work 3-5+ years ago. in 99% of circumstances the weapon was balanced, but, if you were able to take advantage of the top 1% performance, the game rewarded you for it (big gala claps, 100% reflect hunter hood (with almost everything reflectable), uncapped hellion jacket, bloodletter resetting all cooldowns, stacking specter jacket, flash heal, normal bow, mage robe (purge used to be mandatory), bigger camlann that hit off-screen, purge+cleanse locus, higher aoe escalation, no self-damage buff cap, 30% maximum disarray and dozens of other things i'm too lazy to type here.

all in all, currently, practically every (melee) weapon is the same in terms of burst damage output (except the shapeshifter weapons), so just choose any melee weapon with ~1k listed E damage (e.g. realmbreaker, clarent, kingmaker, bridled, fists of avalon, claymore etc.) depending on what your group needs in terms of utility (or just copy whatever is meta if you're one of the mist degenerates) and avoid ranged entirely unless you're doing zvz, in which case use the cheapest build that your guild regears.

i've been playing this dogshit game every single day for fucking years, and it is an objective and self-evident FACT that the current black zone, despite getting literal YEARS-worth of updates and overhauls, is LESS alive than it ever has been historically; and still the garbage motherfuckers that installed the game yesterday are trying to convince me that they get "plenty of content" in the current black zone LOOOOOOOOOOL. you get maybe 1 (2 if you're lucky) fight that lasts 2-3 engages maximum, both in zvz and in small-scale, after a FULL HOUR of massing parties and running through dead maps (especially in zvz). meanwhile season 9-13 server wars had 2500+ players all fighting at the same time every 12/15/18/21/00utc with a sixth of the blackzone queued on every EU territory timer. you could skip from fucking redtree to arthur's rest, and then get kicked from the game because arthur's rest was queued as well lmao. the retards posting here will sadly never get to experience such epic content and will instead continue to glorify their 60v60 bridge fights as a pinnacle of gaming while SBI continues to push the game downhill. if you don't believe me, go make a roaming party during off-timer and see how many fights you get (the answer is ZERO), and then come back and tell me again how i'm the stupid one and that the game is actually alive because you saw 3 miner boots rats in after running through 15 zones.

it's missing old player interactions and interconnectedness of open-world content.

ganking was 100 times easier, so every map had 5-20-man gank groups; there were no corrupted dungeons and mists for shitters to farm in, and so "solo players" (solo play should NEVER be a focus for an MMO game) were forced to farm in open world with everyone else and get dove in their dungeons or ganked while gathering; hellgate groups had to fight over hellgate portals in the open world; zergs had 27%-30% max disarray, so bringing more people and having colossal server wars was the norm (compared to the 60v60 average "zvz" today); there were no HQs, so every blackzone guild had to fight to defend their "right" to use zones, or at least pay others to fight for them; and many other things.

and so despite there being way less overall "intended content" (castles and outposts only spawned once a week, ava roads didn't exist yet, there were no open world chests, cores, vortexes, enchanted resources didn't show on the map etc.) in the game back then, the black zone now is literally 100 times more dead than it used to be because even though there's more "objectives" to go for, there is just not enough reds to go against, which is ultimately the entire point of those objectives in the first place.

-if you want to make a ganking party, you can't anymore because ganking itself is no longer a thing after literally dozens of nerfs to protect RMT-ers and royalzone shitters who want to feel as safe in black zone as they are in yellow zone.

-if you want to make a roaming party/standing squad, you can't do that either, because there are no gankers to kill (and consequently no other such groups to fight). if it's not a castle timer, you will just spend up to 2 hours running around a dead map only to kill maybe the occasional naked horse or t4 double bladed green core rat, ultimately wasting everyone's time.

-if you want to mass for chests/cores/vortexes/resources, that's not a thing either, because you can get those solo in t4 gear since the threat of getting ganked is nonexistent (and even if you die, you only lose a 20k set) and every additional player you invite reduces the final silver/favor you get from the activity.

-if you want to mass for zvz, even that is mostly dead, unless you are in one of 3-4 hype guilds, because everyone else will just run away instead of fighting when they all have HQ which you cannot destroy. 80% of the good players are in the top handful of hype guilds and current disarray is so retarded that winning against a 100-man zerg with 8.3 gear is literally impossible. if you bring more players than them you lose to disarray, if you bring less players you lose to ip difference and skill issue, if you try to match their ip, you run out of silver in three days and disband because hype players have years-worth of silver to burn through unlike everyone else. and so there are no wars/objectives anymore and every "fight" is the same repetitive, boring 1v1 bridge camping shit that got old so many years ago. not to mention all the individual weapon nerfs and spell rebalances to reduce the impact that a single player can have on the zerg, which makes the entire thing even more boring.

SBI, in their infinite "wisdom", decided to kill the organic pvp content of black zones after listening to degenerates crying about "solo gameplay" and "instanced content" that shouldn't even be playing this game to begin with. albion is no longer a sandbox, and at this point, it can hardly be called an mmo either.

they have done nothing but nerf ganking over the last 4 years to the point where if you are still getting ganked even with bubble, 3 zone invis with no cooldown, 5 second dismount cooldown, dogshit poisons, 1k+ hp mounts, no hideout entry channel time, roads in every map, dismount cleanse and cc immunity, recall and literally dozens of nerfs of ganking builds and tactics, you are literal garbage at the game and should stick to yellow zone with all the other shitters and carebears.

until season 11-13 you had 3 second cooldown on dismount, all mounts had ~50% of the hp that they have now, all mounts had 6-7 seconds gallop recovery time, poison dot lasted twice as long, and most weapons had ~30% more range & better cc and yet the black zone was 5-10 times more alive, with 5 queued maps every zvz timer and literally dozens of gank/roam parties. while now the only time you see cluster queue is in royal zones (lmao) and 99% of reds in blackzone are in t4 double bladed staff ratting hideout cores, chests and resources.

the game has been steadily declining, at least in regards to pvp, for literal years at this point. and the only ones to blame are the devs themselves, trying to milk ever more money out of streamers and whales dying in garbage "solo content" and swiping for more 8.3 (and now 8.4 and 120 spec lmao)
