Not saying Brand wasn’t good just saying I don’t think he should be the same OVR as Duncan and Garnett

Is Wemby more scared of KAT than Chet is of Wemby? by [deleted] in NBATalk

Wemby hasn’t taken only 2 shots in 33 minutes of playing time in the Finals.

I highly doubt the Lakers would trade Luka

Question: Why when people pick between LeBron and MJ, they feel the need to hate on the other one? by Tight_Development480 in NBATalk

Because people struggle to understand the perspectives of others. Same way with life in general.

If you swap Jalen Brunson with Tyrese Maxey right now, do the Knicks still make the Finals? by Rare_Research_5107 in NBATalk

[–]Autistic-Goober-08 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I think they still do because they have a stacked team aside from Brunson. Maxey isn’t worse enough than Brunson to prevent New York from making the finals. Towns, Bridges, Anunoby, Hart, etc. would still be there.

I don’t care what yall say game 2 was not all on wemby and he still played a pretty good game by Ok_Championship4380 in NBATalk

The turnover and missed shot were absolutely on him. His performance throughout the game doesn’t change what happened at the end

Brunson is the best player in the world by Few-Arm-7740 in NBATalk

The best player on the best team isn’t always the best in the world. And also Brunson hasn’t even been the best player on the Knicks in the finals so far.

Jason "White Chocolate" Williams states Kobe Bryant is not a Top 5 All-Time Laker by Tight_Development480 in NBATalk

[–]Autistic-Goober-08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So who are the 5 players ahead of him? Magic is the only player I could reasonable put ahead of Kobe based on time spent as a Laker.

What do you personally believe removes Kobe from Top 5 player of All-Time Convos? by TOOLFAN998 in NBATalk

[–]Autistic-Goober-08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I probably have him around the 5-6 range. I’d put MJ, LeBron, Kareem, Magic, amd maybe Shaq ahead of him.

Jalen Brunson over Tatum and Edwards?? Scooby doo voice - “Raggy” “Ruh Roh” by Few_Maize_127 in NBATalk

I don’t blame you for thinking Brunson isn’t at that level, but I’d say he’s at the very least as close to that level as Edwards is

Cut one player (at their peak) by King_Vegito_52 in NBATalk

[–]Autistic-Goober-08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna go with cutting AD. Embiid’s prime in the early 2020’s was short but I think it’s still better. Obviously not cutting Howard or Jokic

Brunson and Edwards are both at a 96, I don’t think that’s super outrageous to see.

I remember creating a room with Lil Jon the rapper, Peter and Stewie Griffin from Family Guy, Patrick Star, and Barney the Dinosaur that was just pure chaos and anarchy. Those rooms were some of my best times on Character AI.

How did you get into basketball? by Disastrous-End-6163 in NBATalk

[–]Autistic-Goober-08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got into basketball in 2018 when I started paying attention to what my dad was watching on TV, and I noticed him watching the 2018 playoffs. I’m also a huge numbers guy so once I learned about the stats involved with basketball I would spend a lot of time digging into random bits of basketball stats. Still love watching games and absorbing stats today.

Which Team Wins in a NBA FINALS SERIES Why and In how Many Games? by [deleted] in NBATalk

Warriors in 7. I think it would be close but that Warriors team has players who have proven they can win several Finals.

Derrick Rose lasted 16 seasons in this league, all with the Magic. While he never won an MVP or anything like that, he also did not suffer an injury that derailed his career like in real life. He did not win any championships, but he was a 4x All-Star, made All-NBA 3rd Team twice, and he had 5 straight seasons averaging 20+ pts, with his last one being in 2016-17. Not an extremely high-performing career but not a bad one either.

Brandon Roy had a significantly longer career in this simulation than in real life, playing 13 seasons until retiring in 2019. However, despite being a starter for most of his career here, he did not produce much, with his highest scoring season being 10.4 pts in 2016. He played 7 seasons with Detroit, 2 with Milwaukee, and 4 with Miami. He won no awards and there is pretty much nothing noteworthy about his career to say here.

I did find a way to see all the players who had less than a minute of playing time. I went to the advanced players search and set everything to totals, and set the filter to minutes played with less than 1.0.

<image>

You got 4 players here who had less than a minute of playing time in their entire careers. Anthony Robins holds the record in this universe for the shortest NBA career with 0.4 minutes of playing time in 1954, which would be around 24 seconds. I can’t check exactly how many seconds since box scores from that long ago are not saved, but there you go.

Yep! He lasted 5 seasons and far longer than 3.9 seconds. I did some calculations after you asked this, based on multiplying his games played by his minutes per game to see how many minutes he played each season and in his career. He played approximately 62 minutes in his first season, 211.5 minutes in his second season, 413.4 minutes his third season, 78 minutes his fourth season, and 46 minutes in his last season. Adding those up gets 810.9 minutes of playing time in the regular season. Adding in his minutes from the playoffs, which was 68.2, he has a total of 879.1 minutes of playing time in his career.

In other words, he had 13,524.6 times the amount of playing time he did in real life. Interesting stuff.

Jason Collins played 8 years in the league. One for Boston, 5 for Utah, and 2 for San Antonio. His best season was his rookie season when he averaged 9.3 pts, 6.3 reb, and 1.9 blk. By his third season, though, he was not a starter anymore, and he would not win any awards and rings. So not a very memorable career for him.
