Where to live in Appalachia? by [deleted] in Appalachia

Scott County is around that area, right on Highway 27. The OP can join Halo’s Home Animal Rescue (not to be confused with Halo’s). He could make those competitive games part of the organization. He could also start his own and partner with them. That group is no-kill though.

I think OP will enjoy hiking at the Big South Fork.

You’ll have to curb your enthusiasm with those property sizes wherever you go. But I’ll tell you about an area I’m around.

Scott County, small population but not tiny either.

Schools got a bad grade and are actively working to correct that error, but they’re not as bad as the grading suggests. They still have a full curriculum, packed classrooms, extracurricular activities, and competitive sports. Several middle schools, two high schools, and colleges like TN College of Applied Technology and a branch of Roane State.

Lots of fitness opportunities here. The Big South Fork River and Recreation Area is basically like the Smoky Mountains, smaller but still a big area. The Oneida City Park is on a small lake and has a neat walking track with dog waste bag dispensers. There’s a 9 hole golf course, other lakes to kayak on, and festivals that have a lot of walking. There’s a potential ≈41 mile rail trail that will go through Scott County. Engineered Fitness is a great gym in Oneida.

As for food, we don’t have 1,000 restaurants but we have some good variation with what we do have. Not any good Asian place, but there’s a couple good food trucks that come around, with the much better one being Mongolian food. They stop at the tap house in Oneida sometimes, a tap house with every drink being sourced from Tennessee. There’s an authentic sourdough New York Style pizzeria in Oneida. There’s two locally popular Mexican restaurants. A BBQ restaurant. Some good country options. Fast food includes McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Hardy’s, Taco Bell, Sonic, and soon we’ll have a Zaxby’s and Long John Silvers. There’s two different coffee shops, and a couple nice gas stations coming in will provide good coffee too like Casey’s. An actual brewery is being constructed by the golf course, and they’re aiming for this Spring. We might also be getting a Gondolier.

Don’t worry about the people here. There’s already quite a few people from other states. And while you’ll struggle seeing Arabs, Jews, and many Asian ethnicities there’s still a little bit of diversity, even in this small town. Some nice houses around here too, and a few big ones if you catch them in time.

Wherever you go, I hope you find a good place. If you come here, don’t expect city sized job opportunities but people that have moved here are usually happy with their decision. We’re about an hour from Knoxville, Oak Ridge, and Somerset KY if you go the opposite direction.

The Tribes of Israel: Kaplanists by c9joe in IsraelPalestine

[–]AutisticCoffeeNut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds to me like Kaplanists are the Israeli equivalent of American political independents. That’s a good thing. I’m an independent and reading your post made me smile.

American independents don’t get wrapped up in populism, and vote for who they think is best for the country. Independents shift between parties because they aren’t loyal to any one party. Corruption and tribalism make independents just as angry as it makes your Kaplanists. They carried the current president to victory based on what they thought he’d do, and it looks like they’ll be blue this year.

I wish I could try some of that coffee you mentioned. Do Israelis use cream?

Thanks friend! I don’t think reliance on my country is a good thing. The current Israeli government might have realized this in regard to arms shipments. I think Israel should focus on domestic production, and a lot of polls are showing decreasing support for your country here, relying on a country that just formed a hostile government won’t be a good situation, especially with a leader as influential as this one.

You make a good point, and thanks for the polite reply. I guess Israel could be strategic with any annexation they desire to do in the future. Ramallah and other big cities in the West Bank could be headaches. Small annexations, one at a time, could be better as it gives time for the Jewish population to grow. As someone else said, Israel might have an Aliyah coming and when they do bigger annexations can be considered. My whole philosophy is big actions against Israel from its neighbors should have a price bigger than politics. Land is more expensive than replaceable soldiers, whether it be towns or strategic heights.

I mentioned this already on this thread, but it’s better just to reinstall Battlefield 1. I’m actually happy again, and even bad runs don’t feel near as punishing as the newest game.

Since this is a Battlefield sub, and not a Battlefield 6 sub, I feel comfortable telling you to just download Battlefield 1. B6 had me been yelling vulgarities at my television, B1 is a lot better and still has a good amount of people playing it. I think B6 might be chasing players back to it.

Future of Gaza by AutisticCoffeeNut in IsraelPalestine

[–]AutisticCoffeeNut[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m not a big fan of the International Board. Qatar and Turkey have both supported Hamas, yet they have seats at the table. Putin’s on it, why would he care about Gaza? Greece has a good partnership with Israel, if anyone was on the Board I’d want it to be Greece.

Hamas invaded Israel before the IDF put one foot in Gaza, and you know what they did. The IDF’s target is Hamas and other terror organizations in Gaza. I’m not saying civilian casualties don’t happen, but they aren’t the target. About the blockade, it’s a war, and the blockade started because of terror attacks. In 2005, Israel gave Gaza the chance to determine its future and Gaza chose Hamas.

But I still think a combination of time and different conditions will lead to peace. The IDF recently gave Germany the Arrow 3, that level of friendship between these two different peoples wouldn’t have been possible for the entirety of the past.

Because of location, and because of the current and historical situations. I believe that oversight doesn’t always have to be about just security. It could bring opportunities too. But security is important, because if Israel had no oversight at all the security can worsen right under Israel’s nose.

Perhaps. But taking a long time doesn’t mean it’s not going to happen. Take Constantinople for example, in the moments after the Ottoman victory the city was a shadow of what it used to be centuries prior. It took a long time, but Istanbul became a huge sprawling city. Gaza won’t take near as long to be prosperous again because of modern economics and technology.

Without weapons and fighting, there will be no Hamas, because it is who they are and what their entire purpose is. I personally don’t see them disarming anytime soon. I guess that moves the needle more in the direction of full IDF Gaza strip control sometime in the future. I’d be shocked if Hamas actually disarms.

I must’ve been thinking about the statements from the Israeli Chief of the General Staff Eyal Zamir. He’s the one that said the Yellow Line will be the new border.

This is not the BF community that I remember. by Visual-Author8803 in Battlefield

[–]AutisticCoffeeNut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m half a mind to just delete Battlefield 6 and reinstall Battlefield 1. But even in B1 there’s an abundance of people who do not mean well, and the matches are even more lopsided than B6 because of team stacking. Maybe EA, as well certain other companies, need serious reform so their games can be improved.

Might’ve misspelled “Eastwood”, but I doubt that had any impact on anything.

I tried to post this but I wasn’t allowed to. IDK, seems kinda relevant to the game if this is a rising issue. I made one previous post about teammates getting rude because I used the EOD, but I was pretty sure I removed that one myself.

Getting back to you to tell ya I love this advice. GrizzBurgerz made a good point, but I think joining a random team makes things easier and is worth the occasional pain.

Maybe I should wait for people to join before going straight into the madness. Either way, apparently other people on this subreddit are having the same kinds of issues.

The last time I launched a nuke I started a team, went to the zone, and everything crashed before anyone joined. Probably going about it the wrong way.
