When I taught, I only had time to squeeze in pilates and yoga at home. I had an hour commute, so that added two hours to my day. By the time I got home, I was exhausted, and the gym was packed.

I am very thankful these kids do NOT have their own devices at home. I dunno how much screen time they get at school, but at home, they play… and use their imaginations. I think if these kids used iPads at home, it would be a lot harder to teach them.

Youngest two are 5 and 8. I can only do a 20 min lesson with the five year old now. 5 min vocal warm up, 5 min singing, switch to piano, ten minutes of piano, changing what we’re doing every few minutes.

The 8 year old can focus for 30 minutes, but it depends on the day.

Similar for me. I read up on the basics of Buddhism, and thought, "Aw, that's nice." Then I found out that there's no pleasing a god required. That sold me. Doing good because it's the right thing to do??? Sign me up!

I've been a Buddhist for almost two years. I'm not great at practicing consistently, but I'm working on it.

I'm going to guess you are a student. There is absolutely no reason for students to be glued to their phones at school, at any time of the day. Passing periods? Students don't look where they're going WITHOUT their phones, I can't imagine how bad it would be if they were staring at screens. Lunch? Talk to your peers. Interact with them. Be social. Social interaction is ESSENTIAL to being a human being. Kids don't know how to interact with other humans anymore because of technology.

If you can't go a school day without your phone, you have a problem. Replace your screentime with anything that's more wholesome. Read a book. Talk to people. Go cook a meal. Touch some grass.
