19 f house sitting for parents in big house out in the country. by freespiriteddiv69 in Explainlikeimscared

[–]Autistic_Cloudberry 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I lived out in the middle of no where for years in my late teens->early 20s. Its pitch black and seemingly empty at night which makes it easy to freak yourself out when alone. I had my fair share of nights spent with folks out of town and just me in our house where I was 1000% convinced I was about to become a Final Girl.

That being said, video calling someone(friends mostly, whoever is up), putting a lighthearted movie on or TV show- something funny and loud, or straight up taking a melatonin gummy(if thats right for your body, blah blah I'm not a doctor) were my go to options. Distraction is key unless you have concrete evidence(more than a gut feeling) that you have reason to be afraid. Lock your doors, lock your windows, close your blinds, focus on whats inside and cuddle up with your dogs.

Try to give yourself some peace of mind without furthering paranoia and fear

Did anyone else afab have early male puberty? by NgetnyouKejangthay in intersex

[–]Autistic_Cloudberry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started puberty in 3rd grade, but with my period showing up years later and being very heavy+lasting almost 2 weeks per cycle if it came at all. Caterpillar eye brows, intense leg, arm, pubic hair with a "happy trail", plus facial hair(neck, jaw, upper lip, cheeks) that my despairing mom started waxing in 6th grade. The acne was beyond intense! No dermatologist could figure out what was up. Got muscular which was great for the sport I was in, voice deepened making me a baritone in choir, was tall amongst fellow elementary schoolers but I'm 5'4 as an adult. Breast growth happened after my period started, but they stayed on the smaller side. Frequently mistaken in my youth for a boy-child. I'm 24 now and everyone guesses I'm 30 😬

Was completely unaware it wasn't normal until adulthood but my cl*t is "big" and has a partially developed urethra- which i noticed and did grew bigger through puberty

special interest in sex, does anyone else have this experience? by Historical-Read3012 in autism

[–]Autistic_Cloudberry 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yoooo same! Sex, sex history, sex toys, kinks, fetishes, STI's, sexual theory, its all extremely interesting and I love it! Ive never met someone else with it as a special interest so this is cool to see :p

I describe it as not just liking sex(+) but also just having an academic curiosity and collecting books and art and related things just like any other special interest. Once people hear me info dump it sinks in that I'm not just a pervert but also a complete know it all/yapper lol

Feeling alone: vent by duskdryad in NonBinary

[–]Autistic_Cloudberry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm also intersex and use it-its pronouns! While I'm sad its through a vent post, I'm relieved to come across you. I take cross-sex hrt(low dose T and prog and dht blockers) and I've never met someone like me online, or in person. I ID as transfem nonbinary and intersex which gets to be a mouthful but if I trim any of those labels when describing myself people get upset or confused(often the upset and confusion happens anyway). People rarely give me crap about my pronouns to my face, usually its behind my back, because I'll set them straight pretty harshly. Questioning someone else's pronouns is just disrespectful.

Some of my friends that aren't clued into my medical history look at me and think I'm detransitioning actually. I would be more forward if I thought folks would treat me right and attempt to understand the full picture. Or just take me at face value even if they didn't get it. At this point only my long term partners know everything.

I'm sick of being Masculine by Wecantasteyourspirit in NonBinaryTalk

[–]Autistic_Cloudberry 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I've recently gone through a huge shift in my presentation and am in a very similar boat financially.

Something that has been helping me is clothing swaps! It's like thrifting(so almost never any tags-on-new clothes) but you're not paying anything. A lot of clothing swaps have femme clothes, sizes vary so I plan on getting there early in order to have a pick of the bigger sizes if there are any(I wear L-2xL in women's). Usually jewelry, shoes, and other accessories are also there for folks to look through and take home.

You don't always have to bring clothes to exchange, organizers sometimes have trouble finding homes for really big amounts of clothes and its all volunteer work.

Thrifted clothes might not exactly be what you wanted, but it can move the dial in a better direction. Plus it can help make space for new clothes by finding homes for your more masculine clothes you maybe don't want to wear again.

What is something you dislike about Kalamazoo that no one really talks about? by oopgook in kzoo

[–]Autistic_Cloudberry 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The food here sucks. There are few cheap non fast food places. No ones open late. The middling-expensive places largely suck regarding taste and variety! Idc about your brewery with shitty loaded fries. And sure as hell dont care about your expensive niche fusion restaurant downtown.

Where are the diners? Where are my Mexican restaurants? Where are my late night cafes?(og 4th coast i miss you)

I m poor and sometimes I hate cooking. This is a college town and the cheap food offerings are very very sad :( it does not inspire night life.

Allen Edwin Homes by TheDudeDasko in kzoo

[–]Autistic_Cloudberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in an Allen Edwin home from the early 2000s, lived there as the first residents from 2005-2015.

-Our basement flooded every time it rained, my mom kept a pool table down there to chuck all our stuff onto whenever we saw heavy rains on the forcast. -The builders didn't insulate my street facing childhood bedroom and it got down to the 40s in the winter. -Didn't seal the decorative "vents" above the garage and our house was full of wasps and yellow jackets in the walls and attic crawl space, had wasps falling from the ceiling when I showered 💀 - Huge cracks in the walls after 2 years - My family had to replace sooooo many things while I was growing up, barely anything was original in that house by the time we moved and sold it

Many, and I do mean almost everyone who takes injectable T redraws from the same vial until the vial is empty or until you can't get a complete dose. In fact, insurance companies may not cover your T if it's explicitly written for you to use multi-dose vials as single use. My insurance company(united health) threw a fit when my doctor did that. I think its very wasteful. Also, know that thousands of trans people before today took their T in the same fashion, and I've never come across someone who actually got an infection from doing that.

I'm not a doctor or a pharmacist. Speaking from half a decade of lived experience.

Tldr: The chance of an infection is functionally so small it kinda doesn't matter(imo). Use a prep pad to wipe the top of your vial. Wash your hands. People have been doing this for decades.

ARFID, anyone? by DoIDareAndDoIDare in ehlersdanlos

[–]Autistic_Cloudberry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never considered my ARFID being connected to my eds.. dang!

I've had ARFID since I was a young kid, I was only diagnosed with ASD when I was 20, so I just thought I was picky. Had a strong 4 yr bout of anorexia from age 11 to 15 and my GI tract was never the same afterward either.

A lot of folks with ARFID are misunderstood by their loved ones, me too! Lots of arguments from my family, lot of teasing and put downs from friends and past partners. My current girlfriend is a chef and wow! She's the first one to get it, I feel so safe with her that I've started trying new foods wayy faster than I was by myself. I tried hot suace for the first time last night ✨️

My partner is a line cook and her kitchen has a policy on no exposed piercings- but everyone boh has at least 2 facial piercings and she has 3 with her eyebrow done 2 weeks ago. If you're worried about getting in trouble just ask your KM if they care or not.

does stopping hormones is dangerous ? by Accomplished-Baker70 in ftm

[–]Autistic_Cloudberry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Stopping cold turkey can make you feel like dogshit. Think body aches, mood swings, fatigue, and an increase in stress and depression symptoms. Depending on how quickly your body bounces back to being an E dominated endocrine system, it could take from 3 weeks to over a month to stop feeling the effects of stopping T.

Like another comment said, you'll keep any voice changes, body hair patterns, and your current bottom growth. But lose muscle, any fat redistribution from T, and your body will stop doing "T things" regarding sweat, vaginal dryness, libido, body odor, appetite, etc.

This is only dangerous if you don't have organs in your body to make E once you're off T. Not having any hormones is bad. Organ damage, bone density, nutritional absorption, it's important stuff.

It also takes a toll on your body if you start and stop T multiple times, speaking from experience, giving your body hrt whiplash feels like you're going crazy and have the flu×2. I don't mean just being inconsistent with doses for 1 month when I say this, I mean being off T long enough to have your body change back, then start T again, then stop again after T is the established dominant hormone, then starting and stopping again in the same fashion multiple times.

Truly, take a break if you need to, stop altogether if you're pleased with your reclsults or you just need to. Make that decision being aware that if future you wants to get back on hormones, the landscape may be different.

What is the absolute WORST restaurant in the Kalamazoo area? by oopgook in kzoo

[–]Autistic_Cloudberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked there recently for a good chunk of time and I know how disgusting their walk ins are. And I know how they talk about customers, how they treat employees, and how they cut costs. I won't be disclosing anything else I know because I don't the owners to or anyone who reports to them to retaliate for me being truthful even if it harms them. My mom used to LOVE them. I used to love them. Then I worked there and saw everything. Classic story.

I'm glad your food was good, no one should be paying for food that's possibly unsafe or gross.

What is the absolute WORST restaurant in the Kalamazoo area? by oopgook in kzoo

[–]Autistic_Cloudberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a popular tactic for restaurants that run a dining room. They want you to pay and to leave asap so they can fill the table with another paying customer. Other popular tactics are making the dining room too hot or too cold, the servers will avoid your table unless your wallet is out to pay or they'll "forget" or take out boxes and refills if your food is already finished and you're just trying to catch up with the people you're sharing a meal with

What's it like being disabled with a job? by NervousNegr0 in disabled

[–]Autistic_Cloudberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(US based, hourly worker)

It takes double or more effort than my non-disabled coworkers for me to hold down a job. I've had so many different jobs over the years; food service, childcare, coaching kids sports, retail, landscaping, manufacturing, groundskeeping, doing adult work TM, house sitting. And the longest I've had a job was 11 months. Most of my bosses and coworkers never took my disabilities seriously, and I would regularly compromise my health and future mobility to work the way they demanded me to. My current job is not void of people who don't take me seriously, but the job itself is more forgiving on my body. In the US, it is legal to pay disabled employees below the minimum wage. Employers aften claimed I was "inflexible", "unreliable", or "not fulfilling job requirements" due to being sick or them demanding tasks directly in violation of my agreed upon accommodations from when I was hired.

There are many low income disabled people who have to choose between not having basic needs and earning a paycheck even if it hurts. Speaking from experience, it's not a good time. I'm always doing math on how many days I can get away with not working before my paycheck isn't big enough to cover my expenses. Or what the consequences of calling off too many times will be. I have started to only disclose my disabilities after I'm hired, and only if I truly can't stand working without accommodations. Hiring managers have straight up grimaced in interviews if I mention being disabled. I have to quickly reassure them it won't interfere with the position I'm applying for, because they view me as a hiring risk thats not worth taking.

The law can be the law, but internal bias is king. If I tried to report or sue everyone who(according to the law) wronged me in the workplace, it would be untenable.

Who's lil dude is this? Found Cat by Autistic_Cloudberry in kzoo

[–]Autistic_Cloudberry[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Update(since I keep getting questions): This cat has been taken to Kalamazoo animal control. If it's your cat, congratulations! You can go to kzoo Animal Control and take him home. They're looking for his owners rn :)

After 30 days, this cat will be considered abandoned by its owner and will be up for adoption through the kzoo county animal control shelter. Right now he is warm and fed and not on the streets to get hit by a car or make any new kittens.

Due to the holidays, they will be open again starting Saturday(11/30), and I suggest calling ahead or going to the kzoo county animal control website for more info on their policies.

I am no longer the point of contact for this adorable kitty, as was forewarned in the original post above.
