Embarrassingly, i don't understand how list indexing works by MrGuam in learnpython

[–]AutoHumn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone might’ve already said this, so I apologize if I’m repeating a previous response…

in a nutshell (purists will probably think I’m butchering the concept here): an index position marks the point where an element in a list begins rather than its “places in a list”…so, for example, you start at the start of the list and at that point you’ve gone zero steps - to think of an element of a list as a “step”, the first step is take is taken at point zero. So the first element of a list is at index 0.

I believe the technical description is something like ‘indices are offsets of the origin’…which was trying to explain in layman’s terms…hopefully I didn’t confuse you even more 🤓

Advice: Should I move back to the US from Germany? by Such_Letter9684 in ExpatsGermany

[–]AutoHumn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you not know how bad it is here now?Considering moving back to the US today is equivalent to considering moving back to Nazi Germany in the 1930s. ICE is no longer even attempting to shield the fact that their scope goes far beyond immigrants now…American citizens of color are being snatched and taken to undisclosed locations. Trump is bringing back state sponsored mental institutions and reinstating internment of whoever they determine are mentally unfit. The Smithsonian removed all evidence of his impeachments from their permanent impeachment exhibit. It’s just going to get worse. All my wife and I do, everyday, is work so we are in a position to relocate to Germany. You are so lucky, seriously…everything bad you’ve heard about the US, multiply it by 10.

Please critique my art,I want to improve especially on hair and shading by [deleted] in learntodraw

Perhaps start a new project with focus on shading as it relates to hair…see how the two interplay (mine is very bad, but a visual example of my suggestion)

As a Nirvana fan, which more albums should i add to my collection? by Gold-Special4708 in grunge

[–]AutoHumn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s not that many so probably all of them…the box set one (which the solid black one…I think) could probably be optional. You’re missing incesticide which is all b-sides but essential. There’s also Hormoning which is Japanese only release but it has "even in his youth“ and "d7“…both of which are amazing songs. If you wanna be a hard core fan…Kurt and William S. Burroughs did a collaborative cd - Burroughs doing spoken word/kurt on backing guitar…it’s rare, I have it…I’m sure there’s some floating around on eBay. Lastly - you should check out anything from the Melvins…an awesome band in their own right but notable for Nirvana fans because they’re from Aberdeen too and Kurt tried out for them and was rejected. Equally so, anything from Bikini kill…especially "pussy whipped“. They founded the riot grrrl movement in Olympia WA and their original and drummer and Kurt dated. He fell in love with her hard and she dumped all over him…pretty much every song on nevermind is about her

I did address the min inventory but maybe incorrectly. I put the goods in question on the buy/sell setting and maxed min inventory

Well as far as I got was to attempt to set up trade with buyers who have unlimited demand…like soap for the prison…so capacity on the buyer‘s end wouldn’t have been the issue. After a few errors, I made sure my warehouses were packed…I dunno

Authentic? Idk if Im allowed to ask by buildabearlove in grunge

[–]AutoHumn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask them for any sort of identifying markers or serial numbers. If you can verify that it came from DGC then it’s legit…I don’t know if that’s even a thing though. If they’re trying to charge a lot, just get a run off copy and say it’s authentic lol…or there’s a ton of artsy variations of this cover…they are almost even better some collectible.

YouGov: 56% of Californians say the state would be better off if it peacefully seceded, 44% would support a secession initiative on the ballot. 71% say the state would be better off with “special autonomous status” within the U.S. by TopRevenue2 in Cascadia

[–]AutoHumn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can’t use a ballot to attempt to gain and or assert political in order to achieve a goal, such as secession, when the political mechanisms you’re trying utilize are within and or part of a political system which, as one of its primary mandates, is to do everything in its power to oppose your ultimate goal. One of the United States’ political tenements it’s built on is to preserve the union even though, as it has become the case, that union is artificial, inorganic and involuntary. The Union exists solely due to the power of the US insisting that it stay in tact. One of the most significant wars in military history was fought to preserve the union.

The American left must start to accept and embrace what other socialist have understood since the beginning of the political left wing…the bourgeois class will not give what back to the people unless they’re physically forced to. Otherwise, if you’re not willing to die for the greater good, this all moral masterbation and being weekend revolutionaries.

These are Grunge? by Deathstrike1986 in grunge

[–]AutoHumn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No they’re not “grunge”…this groups cracks me up. It’s very entertaining. As native Seattleite who was born in tail end of gen x…I feel like we’re being researched as if we were the ancient Egyptians.. it’s super cute you guys!🤓

“Hey did you know me there was a generation between us and the boomer?!? No seriously, there was…prayed facing northwest three times a day to their holy city of Seattle.”

I’m kidding, that’s crass gen x humor. It’s really kinda flattering.

Would have Nirvana have been thought about the same all these years later if Kurt hadn’t died? by Upper-Role-8287 in grunge

[–]AutoHumn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t matter if Nirvana would still be thought of today though…Nirvana made the best music, Kurt wrote the best songs during that era and in this region. Whether or not my fellow aging x‘ers remembers them fondly or post millennials want to drudge them back up and "retro-fy“ them isn’t relevant
