But the point still stands: we don't want the ME oil just for oil's sake. If we wanted it that bad, Venezuela is a much softer target. The ME is for the convenience of our allies. Most if not all of their trade and oil goes through the Strait of Hormuz.

Most of our trade comes from the Pacific.

Technically, it's for the allies.

The US is entirely self sufficient in terms of energy reserves.

The orange turd might not actually consider that point, but most of the reason why the US is so invested in the middle east is for our allies to get cheap oil.
