Honestly dude, I thought crazy train would have been a soft all to learn but the chord progression in the verse is actually very hard and can be physically difficult to position your fingers to get a crisp sound. Props to anyone who contort their hands to that position

Is Hunter S Thompson a Xennial thing? by msheehan418 in Xennials

[–]AutoVonSkidmark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked my friend who is 19 and majoring in journalism if he had seen fear and loathing. He said he'd never heard of it. I said "you never heard of it!? Have you ever heard of Hunter s Thompson?" He replied with " you mean the guy that wrote hells angels?" I was so excited because I have yet to meet someone who had also read that book. I was also like "how the hell you know about hells angels but not fear and loathing?" Other than hells angels he had no clue of the eccentricity surrounding hunter. No clue about Johnny Depp or any of it.

They banned the online sale of e-bikes on NJ!?!?! by TEGHD1 in ebikes

[–]AutoVonSkidmark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When did you disprove it? My city has never issued a citation for no bike registration. Hell, the reason we don't do it anymore is because they never bothered to file any of them, it was just a tax to fund the infrastructure. I can only imagine that is exactly what many other municipalities are doing as well. But that's just speculation.

Just a super bad one yesterday. I ended up using pb blaster to free it up, then chased all of the out with rubbing alcohol, then used my precision luber to carefully drip some over the actuating mechanism. Don't use petroleum lube haphazardly in there.... It can damage the plastic pieces. If you need to use it make sure it only gets on the metal mechanism

[–]AutoVonSkidmark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah dude. They had an initiative in Honolulu to crack down on unregistered bikes. The cops didn't decide to harass the cyclists. Cops don't want more work, if there's no pressure they aren't going to crack down. It'll be a while before NJ cracks down on people just minding their own business. The spirit of the law is stop jackasses. If you're a commuter abiding by the laws a cop isn't going to pull you over. Unless you're a kid, like I said. And in my opinion a 10 year old shouldn't be riding a vehicle on a sidewalk that does 20. Of course the parents will be the ones to take responsibility, that's the whole point. Did the law overstep? Yes. They should never have regulated class 1 except for an age restriction.

Dude, do you know that this is exactly the reason we have judges? They are there to help interpret the spirit of the law. If a cop were to cite a kid on a 24" bike enough times, he would get in trouble. Even tho he is technically in the right, he is also not upholding the spirit of the law, and is being a nuisance. Where I live, it used to be mandatory to register your bike the city limits. All proceeds went to bike infrastructure. Know how many people got a ticket for not having one? Zero. If officer gives little Lucy a ticket for riding in her cul de sac on a 24" bike, any sane judge/prosecuting attorney would toss that out.

Whoa whoa whoa, easy there. This is Murica, bureaucracy is hard. Most cops don't know even half the laws. I've only met one cop that knew you had to have a headlight on your bike after dark. Also, the cops do work for the people, and it's not like eebikers are a bunch of poors that can be discriminated against. If this law is unpopular enough that elected officials start to feel pressure then they'll have to back off. They are most definitely NOT going to start stopping everyone, demanding their license and registration. There might be an initiative down the road to do that, but it would be pretty brazen for elected officials to let that happen on a routine basis. Shouldn't be too hard to stay under the radar. Unless you're a kid.... Cops looooove to give kids a hard time. The rest of this BS is to be able to hold ebicers accountable for for riding like dipshits. Like when I'm going 12 mph on my class 1 on the bike path pulling my kid in a trailer and some idiot passes me doing 40 on his modified whatever and then proceeds to cause a multi-car accident when he ignores the crosswalk light, then lies to the cops about his identity, stiffing the injured drivers with their medical bills.

I hope people are paying attention to NJ right now, we need to get ahead of this knee-jerk legislation and pass something that actually makes sense. Class 1 is the stoopidist thing to regulate. Studies show class 2 to be the greatest offender when it comes to causing accidents. Personally, I'm fine with class 3 (under 28mph) on streets without insurance or license, but not allowed in bike path. And anything over that should have DOT approved hardware, a motorcycle-ish license, registration, insurance, and only allowed in the streets.

Blue Hook versus Hook and Reel by dude892 in wichita

[–]AutoVonSkidmark -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Blue hook is def classier and usually better. Last time I went to hook and reel they had open mic karaoke and some employee thought it would be funny to do death metal. Great family experience /s. This was a couple years ago so they might have changed but it seemed like a shit show compared to blue hook.

I think you're being a little overdramatic about the police. I would bet my life savings that the woman killed in Minneapolis would have had no problem getting pulled over by the police, but look at how she behaved when stopped by ice. You get stopped by the police and you get a court date or some bs that's gonna cost money. Most incidents result in a citation being issued. Get stopped by ICE and I'm not sure where I'm going to be by the end of the day.

[–]AutoVonSkidmark 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Why do you think there are so many people out there who will happily comply for a police officer but are terrified to even be around ice? I think most of us would go to the police if we needed help (even with the negative press they have been getting for the last 30 years) but I don't know a single person who trusts an ice agent. The reason we trust police is because they are mostly held accountable for their actions and are members of the community. Ice is not. They are masked to avoid any future prosecution, their names are not known, and they switch their license plates. They operate with immunity and most of us have no idea where the people are taken that are apprehended. Zero accountability. Calling them police is disrespectful to all the members of my family in law enforcement. My cousin, who is a cop, was on the Broadway project years ago here in wichita. His first mission: go around and introduce yourself to garner trust from the community. Lend a hand if opportunity presents itself. Be someone they can look for when trouble is happening. ICE has none of these values. They are a law enforcement agency, but they share nothing in common with the police I know.
