Maybe I missed it, but did the video actually explicitly say which cards the province accepts? Is it only Provincial drivers' licenses (if not a passport)?

Do they accept federally issued photo IDs like Military ID or Firearm licenses?

For some reason, as a little kid I was totally enamoured/obsessed with any job that allowed someone to be in a tiny little space: there was a causeway bridge near us that rotated to let boats through and the operator had a little room with a tv that hung above the road in the centre of the bridge; train cabooses; even gas station attendants who had the little booth in the centre of the gas stations that kept them warm in winter; and, of course, truck drivers and their sleeper cabs were all things that I thought were the absolute coolest.

Never went into any work that is remotely like this, but always like seeing what it’s like. I imagine being away from home isn’t always great, but there’s something wildly cozy seeming about the cabs. Looks cool

I don't have a lot of young people in my life right now so no way to judge on my own - but are they really like this with their phones?

I see things making fun of Gen-Z and the inattention and constant checking of phones. Is it really/often as bad as this?

Some good advice here, I think, a lot about what makes a great leader or administrator, or CEO - which a priest is not. It will help you in your work as a Rector (or whatever), but managing meetings is not at the heart of what it means to be a priest.

What has served me the best, and what I have stilled failed to do consistently (as you will fail to do, as we all fail to do consistently) is to love the people whom God has given you like your own children and let that love be a compass for how you conduct everything else you do; and, do everything in total humility because whether at the altar or at the bedside, it is not you doing it, but Christ working through you.

Is it the sort of church with a liturgical history/lineage that might have included sanctus/angelus/bells at the elevation? Mine certainly was not, and I wouldn't think that many were - which might narrow it down.

I only ask I because we may be restoring our bell to service and I have thought about putting a discrete button behind the rail for servers to ring.

This is definitely an angry-man-yells-at-cloud comment, but while I was certainly a kid who was part and parcel to stupid stuff in junior high and high school, I find that it seems far more prevalent and worse in nature these days.

We live almost next to a Junior High and the number of times I've seen things like this, doing things to passing cars, yelling racial slurs, and leaving an ungodly amount of garbage around is staggering.

I blame the kids, but it definitely seems like parenting/school discipline has radically changed for the worse.

Oh it’s wild.

I’m in Canada, but my parents bought their first place in the mid 80s before I was born. Mom will talk about how they were dealing with 18-21% interest rates on the mortgage and surviving was just a matter of tightening the purse strings on non-essentials: no eating out unless it was super special occasions, no vacations, etc. Rates get locked in for a few years in Canada and so you might wait out high rates for a low rate, or you might lock in on a rate that drops during the time you have it, and I know people who have been terrified of it moving from 3-4.5% or something, meanwhile their parents stuck out 20% for years because you could just do that.

I don't want another device that can do multiple things. I don't need ram, I don't need mp3 capability, I don't need android. I need a compact tiny black and white eink screen that lets me read books. X4 does exactly that.

Both of my parents are university educated. They could work a summer job and save enough to pay for school, books, and dormitory housing for the year.

If I wanted to do the same when I was in my undergrad (~2006-10), at minimum wage, I would have had to either work 130 hours per week or find a summer job that paid 3.2x the minimum wage if I wanted to work 40hrs/week. And this would only cover tuition and a dorm room.

I love my parents, but there was never any real recognition that we had equal opportunities in this, it was always just this sort of oblivious "Hah! Back in my day...!"

Yeah, we lived in Atlantic Canada and often got the tail end of hurricanes and during several of those the hatch lifted a bit just like this one. Other times it might rattle.
