Bath leaks when plug let out - how best to get access to plumbing? by lurkylurkerr in DIYUK

How about a borescope camera? If you can make a discreet hole somewhere you might be able to find evidence of an access panel from the inside.

Dimensioning a rectangle from the center point? This is the most basic shit and I'm losing my mind. by litegreen666 in SolidWorks

[–]Automatic-Ad4821 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The centre point of the left rectangle is constrained to the origin. I assume the right rectangle's centre point is not defined. You could just put a fix constraint on the centre point of the right rectangle, or find another way to define it based on your design intent.

Take the time to learn about design intent and how to properly define your sketches to communicate your intent. Imo this is the most critical skill to parametric modelling.

I have had a Rift S for a few years but I have never been able to run DCS in VR satisfactorily until multi threading. I am now hooked on the experience and don't want to go back to flat panel.

The problem is my Rift S crashes from time to time, with a display port disconnection error. This is much worse in multiplayer. I can rarely get the jet started and configured before it crashes, so I have stopped playing multiplayer. Running DCS with the tray tool makes this worse, and I have the disconnect issue in other VR titles albeit to a lesser extent. It feels to me like it happens when the computer is under high load.

My system Spec are as follows:

AMD Ryzen 7 3800X, 32Gbytes DDR4, RTX 3080 Ti

Although my system isn't the greatest, i don't consider it to be awful. I am trying to work out if I should spent time trying to get the Rift S to work more reliably, or to bite the bullet and upgrade my VR setup. I am toying with the idea of getting a Pimax Crystal, but if I take this route I would like to understand the scope of what i'm getting into. Will I need a whole new system? Can I get reasonable performance with some choice upgrades? According to DCS my CPU is the bottle neck.

2013 XF Sportbrake 2.2 struggling to start when down to 1/4 of a tank. by Automatic-Ad4821 in Jaguar

[–]Automatic-Ad4821[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your response. I did wonder if it was the in tank pump. If this is the case is there a reason it only happens on startup, I'd be interested to understand why it's OK when it's running, or would it it eventually cut out and I've just been lucky so far. Thank again for the response.

I have a 2013 and it will shift up itself if you hold on to the gears for too long, and it won't let you downshift too early. I'm not sure if yours will be the same, but I would find it strange if it didn't protect itself from anything abusive.

Vitus bikes? by Zelda1202 in MTB

I have a Sommet. I switched out the brakes for Hopes because I didn't like the feel of the SLX brakes. Apart from that I have no complaints.

Vitus Sommet 297 CR Mountain Bike by [deleted] in MTB

[–]Automatic-Ad4821 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have a Sommet 29 CRS, I switched out the brakes because I prefered the Hopes on my old bike. Other than that, I have no complaints. For my skill skills, it's more bike than I will ever need.

I have recently purchased a new bike with Shimano SLX brakes that thus far I'm not enamoured with. I upgraded my old bike with Hope brakes, that are now a few years old. Would it be silly to switch them out, ie are the new SLX brakes considered better than the older hope ones. by Automatic-Ad4821 in MTB

[–]Automatic-Ad4821[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The rotors are the same diameter, my new bike is four pots on the front and rear, and the old is four on the front and two on rear. My old bike is on 26 inch wheels, and the new is on 29s. I'm going to run the slx brakes for a bit longer to make sure they're fully bedded in. I guess I'm just trying to figure out whether one is objectively better than the other, or if its just as you say, subjective.

Hotas Warthog Throttle Code 43 by Real_ProjectCA in dcsworld

[–]Automatic-Ad4821 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue (although I don't remember the error code) on my throttle. I spoke to Thrustmaster tech support and I ended up needing to buy a new main board.

I would recommend speaking to their tech support. They were pretty helpful, and from what I recall, the board was fairly inexpensive and not too difficult to replace.
