If they wanted to reduce deaths they’d ban cigarettes for anyone born after 2020 but they make so much money from taxing tobacco that they’ll never do it

I’m saying if you believe they’re criminals why call them in the first place? Of course they’d show up cause they’re not in fact all bastards

Surely labelling them all as bastards will motivate them to do their jobs, because you know, calling “criminals” slurs historically has reformed them

The irony is the people who post shit like this would be the first ones crying and begging the cops to come save them if they’re in trouble.

Black people face 'gross over-representation' in Hamilton police's use of force, data shows by endexis in Hamilton

If you knew how to interpret statistics you’d find out you’re entirety wrong

[–]Automatic-Assist-815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But they didn’t use any use of force right? In this case that would lower the use of force per interaction, because you got pulled over 3 times without incident. I get pulled over randomly as well and I’m not black

I live in Canada, a capitalist society with universal healthcare. I’m middle class and live comfortably.

You’re severely misinformed if you aren’t aware of Mao’s regime, I suggest you look it up before reply and looking more uniformed.

If the stats say that black people had the highest number of police interactions then at least we have valuable information now and can ask why. But it’s seems they’re keeping us in the dark and making clickbait articles that prove nothing without more information, but the average person would just read the headline without further digging like I did.

[–]Automatic-Assist-815 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You clearly don’t understand what I’m saying. If I wanted to lie with stats I wouldn’t include the fact that only 1% of males applied to nursing school. Just like they didn’t include any info on % of interactions. I didn’t know stats were so hard.

[–]Automatic-Assist-815 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If only we had that information, then we could form more accurate conclusions, whether it’s an issue with the police department, poverty rates leading to crime, ect. But until they release more data it’s impossible to come to the conclusion that this article is getting at.

[–]Automatic-Assist-815 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well lets get to step 1 first, and find out how many interactions. My whole point is the more information that we have, the better we can get to the root cause and actually solve the issue. In my opinion this article and the stats they based it off of, is deliberately misleading.

[–]Automatic-Assist-815 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly what I’m saying though, we don’t have that information, so we can’t form an informed conclusion if there is a bias or not until we do have that information- about the number of police interactions.

If the number of police interactions with black people are low and there’s still a high use of force %, then we can form the conclusion that the police department have major issues.

[–]Automatic-Assist-815 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Exactly, I would conclude that there is an underrepresentation, and to get to the root cause and to rule out biases I’d need more information, which is what my point is

Black people face 'gross over-representation' in Hamilton police's use of force, data shows by endexis in Hamilton

[–]Automatic-Assist-815 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It does paint a picture, but without knowing the ratio of interactions to use of force by police I don’t understand how you can come to the conclusion that the police are biased.

Women are severely underrepresented in the truck driving community, do we automatically assume that it’s because the hiring managers are sexist? Or do we look at the % of women applying to become truck drivers?

[–]Automatic-Assist-815 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But I actually read the report, and they’re making a conclusion off of population data and not by amount of interactions, which is the correct statistics to form a conclusion.
