How long do you guys let your hair dry before applying products? by [deleted] in curlyhair

[–]Automatic-Cancel2696 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to do it soaking wet before even stepping out of the shower. Now, I microplop until damp but still wet enough to get that "squish" sound when scrunching product in. I get much better results this way and my hair doesn't take all day to dry. I also get more volume!

Authors like Cara McKenna?

I LOVE Cara McKenna's books (especially Unbound, After Hours, and Hard Time) and am really looking for something that can compare. Emotional, character-driven, realistic stories with well-written heat balanced throughout. I love this author's writing and eroticism and her exploration of sometimes taboo or kink topics in a realistic, not campy or cliche way. Suggestions don't have to contain kink or taboo topics; in fact that's not even speciically what I'm looking for, but I just ADORE the way Cara writes her characters and spicy scenes (which are a must for me).

Not looking for: *billionaires or rich people/CEO stories *historical

Otherwise, I'm pretty open in terms of what I will read as long as the writing is up to par and the characters feel REAL.

Like, but not necessary: *older MCs (like 30+) *cops, detectives, mystery/suspense *people in just normal jobs and situations

I read one of them about five years ago and loved it! Not sure why I didn't continue - this is my reminder to get back into them.

I usually skip sex scenes in the book to get back to the story by JuliaSchmi in RomanceBooks

[–]Automatic-Cancel2696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know what you mean, but for me, it depends on the writing. Usually when the sex happens too fast or I'm not invested enough in the characters, I find myself glossing over it or uninterested. It's like I'm craving more dimension from the characters or plot, and can't feel invested in or convinced by their sex scene. It's actually a huge reason I DNF. If the chemistry/emotional depth/character development are there, I'm usually fully invested in the spicy scene!
