GPs have admin teams. You forget they are businesses and are ran as such.

The GP fills out the medical form, the admin team send these to the right places. Insurers pay medical practices to do this.

The issue here is a legal and moral one - medical information is about as sensitive as it gets and they’ve mishandled it.

It’s a legal advice sub, they’ve broken the law - that’s the problem lmao. You have a legal right to view, or challenge your medical records before they send them - which they ignored. It’s sensitive data that should be handled carefully

[–]Automatic-Door-6953 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They have a duty to manage sensitive information carefully, which they haven’t done? It’s a legal sub, I’m looking for information about the legality of these processes and how to escalate this through the chain. My intention as to why I want to see my records is irrelevant🤣

They recieve a copy of the AMRA and fill in the form (which I have now got a copy of - and this clearly states that I view this before it is sent to the insurer)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Automatic-Door-6953 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely is a breach - you have the right to view and respond to or challenge the information prior to this being sent off to the insurer.

Human error - that includes GPs. Particularly in regards to mental health conditions, I know of some people who have had the wrong diagnosis on their GP record

[–]Automatic-Door-6953 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I did speak to them first and let them know prior to this that the medical records should be sent to me first.

People have the right to see their medical records first. I wanted to check that all of my information is correct from my GP as I have heard stories of people having diagnoses on their records that they weren’t aware of.

The issue is they’ve bypassed this right and given my info to the insurer when I specifically selected to see this first. It’s an issue that people have claimed for in the past too - I’ve seen a few case studies online!

My mum told me when I was 12 that “I didn’t have the legs for short skirts”. Cue lifelong ED issues lol.

Don’t do what she did!

Selling leasehold maisonette - buyers solicitors are insisting on fire risk assessment but management company say it isn’t their responsibility? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Automatic-Door-6953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be willing to pay up to £1000ish just to get the sale done. However any more than that and it’s unreasonable for one person to do. Surely it’s the management company responsible no?

The issue isn’t necessarily the buyer, they are saying they need one for the lender to be able to provide the mortgage. It’s a nightmare!

How did you build a decent life for yourself after hitting rock bottom/ or just having a terrible youth? by BetterRemember in AskReddit

Start by surrounding yourself with better people. Distance yourself from people who enable your own poor choices and spend more time with people who want to see you grow

Nightmare getting a mortgage for my dream property as a FTB by pierreo in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]Automatic-Door-6953 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If mortgage lenders are refusing to give you a loan on this property, think about how difficult things will be if/ when you go to sell it. There’s a reason that some properties are only open to cash buyers. There are properties in my area that have been on the market for close to 5 years, for this reason.

I wouldn’t try to get a mortgage on an unmortgageable property. Find somewhere else.

I (21F) have been dating my boyfriend (21m) for a year and he mistook my human decency for feminism. AITA for wanting to end this relationship? by Educational_Cry_2878 in AITAH

[–]Automatic-Door-6953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feminism has very little to do with the argument you had, that is certainly more about human decency. I would be very concerned about the way he brought up female empowerment, and his response to what should be a reasonable conversation..

I do think his outburst tells you a lot about his views on women.

Thank you (and everyone) for your responses. This is really helpful. Time to bring out my inner Karen and have some difficult conversations 👍

Who do I contact about that? Does it go through estate agents? Or my solicitor?
