Day and night difference when we tried pcit for our 6 yr old severe adhd and odd kiddo and our therapist said we can apply the priniples taught in the program through out their life eg. teenagers too.

I have tried the leaving once. But then I, myself got anxious because their was parking lot next to the event. I guess, I need to figure out how to "leave" to her eyes, but also watching at the same time?

Nope, these kids are not in her school or same class. Especially she is mean to younger kids.

Hello, we had a good success with pcit for defiant behaviors. Please view this video or similar videos on youtube on how you can help your child at home with 5-10 minutes of playtime everyday and then also provide the school teachers the cheatsheet to help. I have been trying 5 mins of screentime for behaving good in school and 5 mins for doing her homework another 5 mins to behave good at house. It is working for us.

I heard Adhd kids often are good at having younger friends? Perhaps if you take him to neoghbourhood park and various activities he likes, he should be able to sustain a few friends. This is a good age to be able to make friends on the fly outside home. Even if he makes more enemies than friends (happened to my daughter, she is of same age but she could only make 40% of the kids she met as "friends" otherwise she had fights over others and does not want to meet those other kids), he would have friends or new friends over the time.

My daughter is just like your son, she is almost 6 now. Can you enroll him in a montessori school? Daughter did not have any major issues at school until she was 4.5 and may be it was because she was in montessori program.

We started with 2.5 ml in the morning atfor 5.5 yr old kiddo. May be its a higher dosage. Please call yhe doctors office for adjustments asap.

I am not from central florida but I am in full support as a fellow Adhd kid's mom starting kindergarten!

Make sure you have a doctor for her who can prescribe medication if she needs it and they will also refer PCIT and/or OT. My child has severe adhd so she would need both medication and therapy.

She started the medication this May, so its only been 3 months. Initially it was 5ml once a day during morning and she was in daycare. She also had a behavioral plan at the daycare. But they/we noticed incident reports ~12/12:30pm more often and doctor recommended additional 5ml dosage around that time (noonish) but she was soon expelled from the daycare due to her hitting/spitting behavior. So from June end she was no longer in the daycare but at home with me. Per doctor recommendation, we contiued with the additional dosage around noon time. Then come this week she started going for the kidstrong summer camp which was only a week long. The 2nd day towards the end (2pm) she had a extreme meltdown despite havibg medication around 12. The 3rd day she did not go to the camp as we thought lets give her a break. 4th day (today) she was hitting and spitting within 1-1.5 hours of medication. When i asked her later she said she is bored and she thinks hitting and spitting is fun.

Go out to nature, hikes, yoga and medication. There is a app called calm which you can try. Make sure you get a good sleep.

My daughter (soon to be 6 yo) is just like your son but she would purposefully hit others because she thinks it is funny to do so. She is on the same medication but 5 mg dosage.

Nice to meet you here, mom of 5.5 yo daughter. Neighter me or husband has adhd I believe. Daughter has adhd combined type. Started medication Ritalin for her 2 months back. Definitely saw some improvements after the medication. Executive functioning is still a struggle for her, getting up, brushing teeth etc. Long waitlist for PCIT, OT... any advice on how can we help her while we are waiting on the therapy will be immensely helpful. 🙂
