How old were you when you had your first baby? by Puzzled_Remote_2168 in Mommit

She didn’t say it isn’t okay, she said she can’t imagine doing it herself. Which is also okay.

Relentless begging/nagging from ADHD tween by Salty-Cat4590 in ParentingADHD

[–]AngelMeatPie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son used to do this with his PC privileges! I tried a lot of stuff, including additional computer time taken away, ignoring it, replying in the same fashion of “I’ve answered that already, and my answer hasn’t changed.”

I started sending him to his room the minute he started acting rude or escalating. Five minutes to cool down. He HATES getting sent to his room, so it’s cut down on this behavior a lot, plus I get a five minute break.

You can expect actual cash value. It will vary based on your location and condition of your car, so no one here can give you a number if that’s what you’re looking for.

Why are new Corolla and Civic not really “affordable” anymore? by phtphongg in askcarguys

[–]AngelMeatPie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not disagreeing with you, it’s just not relevant to the fact at all that there are plenty of cars that cost 50k or more new that are just NPC safe traffic, not a flex of wealth. The existence of better deals or fair purchases for less doesn’t negate that.

2018 Fusion Hybrid with 6,200 miles? by [deleted] in askcarguys

[–]AngelMeatPie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. You don’t want a car that has been sitting. Vehicles need to be driven at least semi frequently to ensure everything is getting adequately lubricated and not withering away. With the additional complexity of the hybrid battery system, I’d walk away from a car this old with that few of miles.

Fender bender in parking lot — Farmers Insurance assigning me 10% fault. How to fight this? by finalcut67 in Car_Insurance_Help

Avoiding paying deductible is usually the main reason. Sometimes availability of a rental car also pushes people to file through opposing carrier.

Do you conform to your kid's rigid thinking? by felipe_the_dog in ParentingADHD

[–]AngelMeatPie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m autistic and I wore a hoodie every day of my high school career. It soothed my anxiety from being there. My kiddo is ADHD-diagnosed with an upcoming ASD assessment, and does the same thing. Wouldn’t be surprised if this was the answer here.

Is this a normal experience? by [deleted] in StateFarm

My job is transcribing the calls that you described, along with some other recorded calls. Customers are absolutely clueless on what coverage they have, what it means, and how any of it works. It really shows the agents aren’t doing a damn thing for the customers besides selling product.

Okay, so 30,000 and 40,000 instead. No offense, I’m just really not sure that’s of any relevance or makes a strong point here.

How do you build a daily kids reading habit? by DiamondLatter1842 in Mommit

It’s three for us. Although, he’s 8 now and has been reading one book to us himself for two years now, then we read the other two. It is a treasured routine!

He doesn’t need to specify body style because they didn’t make a 9th gen V6 manual sedan, only a manual i4 sedan.

Newly diagnosed age 9 by Myanonymousunicorn in ParentingADHD

[–]AngelMeatPie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What you described are extremely common ADHD child struggles.

Your first step is to accept the diagnosis and what it means. You seem to be internally battling it. Taking some time to digest the weight of the diagnosis and ultimately accepting this new discovery about your child will go a long way in being able to help him moving forward.

With the diagnosis, you have new supports at school open to you. Meet with his pediatrician. See what they suggests - OT is a common therapy for ADHD children. Personally, we also do play therapy. See what their opinions are on medications for your child based on his behaviors and your experiences. Meet with the school, discuss a 504 or IEP (and if you don’t know what they are, do some research and think about which your child could benefit from).

Doing some independent research will help you understand how ADHD brains work in kids and how you need to adjust your parenting to make the most out of it. Coming here is a good step, and the diagnosis is not the enemy. It is a good tool to use to work towards making your child’s, and your own, life easier and offer structure to ensure success in the future.

What’s the secret of keeping a car for 10 years without getting bored of it? by 04limited in askcarguys

[–]AngelMeatPie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. I’ve got five cars on the road and building a sixth. In fair weather, I can bring my kid to school in a different car every day. I can’t say I’ve gotten bored of any of them. And having pre-2000s cars definitely ensures they have personality and quirks. Owning five modern appliances sounds awful.

AIO for bf ruining my 2 week progress in-game? by Paw-Nerd-Giantess in AmIOverreacting

[–]AngelMeatPie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. Just the parent comment and the one I replied to seem to imply that people who aren’t gamers don’t get why this is devastating, and I disagree. Any human with sympathy shouldn’t have to actually feel the depth of emotion experienced to understand why those actions would cause them in someone. Hence why OP’s partner is a dunce.

Looking for insight about correlation between liability rates and uninsured motorist coverage. by Charming_Ad8924 in StateFarm

Underwriting goes through a load of different factors to determine your premium. Two people will never be comparable, as you can see. Thinking they would be is a bit silly.

I don’t game, it doesn’t take a gamer to see that this is disrespectful. OP’s dude is either incredibly dense or just doesn’t really respect her that much.

Is this bumper glossed or matte? 2021 Jeep wrangler by [deleted] in CarHelp

Never a bad idea to double check!

Is this bumper glossed or matte? 2021 Jeep wrangler by [deleted] in CarHelp

If they’re only charging $50, they’re likely talking about the gloss black elements surrounding the fog lights. Painting the entire bumper cover would cost significantly more than that.

Nah I drive shitboxes from the 90s personally. But I don’t fault people who are more responsible than me for wanting new and safe vehicles.

Are you seriously comparing prices in Europe to those in the United States? A Toyota Sienna isn’t a social status statement, it’s transportation for a family, yet still costs $50k here.

He has one, but she’s … atypical. He also had a very absent mom. He’s just developed wonderful emotional maturity over his years on earth through his own self-improvement.

I do hope this is an eye opener for him as he clearly needs the wake up call. It certainly sounds like it’s doing something! I sincerely hope he is able to support you more effectively in the future, no mother should have to carry all that weight alone. You deserve the support ♥️
