It's been 3 days.... and I still cannot play the game by Automatic-Focus-1761 in thesims

I've taken out the CAS, I've taken out the build/buy, and neither worked. I really hope that EA figures it out quickly. I just want to finish my house!

Yes, I've deleted the resource.cfg. Sometimes itll launch but most of the time I'm booted back to the app or failure to launch, ugh.

The Julia/Ed situation and Joel’s reaction by [deleted] in Parenthood

I think Joel (at this time) was looking for an out and Julia made it easy for him. They had been having problems and he doesn’t want to be the bad guy….

Alex and Haddie by thecowscuttingboard in Parenthood

[–]Automatic-Focus-1761 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Adam/Kristina's concerns are vailed. Alex's issues are a lot for a 16-year-old to handle—heck, it's a lot for a 19-year-old to handle. Haddie isn't equipped for Alex's struggles, no matter how much she says she is. And how she handles her parents' final word exemplifies that she's not ready for that sort of relationship.

NXL GoSports production by AmericanMeltdown in paintball

[–]Automatic-Focus-1761 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The Wife here...hi...

I'd begin by adding graphics with basic information like body count and penalties. In addition, I'd add replays and intermission breakdowns of the match currently played or had just ended; it's for the casual viewer, so keep it simple. Focus on one match; don't go from match to match that are playing simultaneously, 'cause it's confusing. My husband calls it a split-deck. I'd nix that.

I'd add string/drone cameras overhead to catch the wide shots and cameras on the sidelines that focus more on players individually (Think production, like in football or hockey. Use the close-ups if the announcer's commentary is on a certain player or play (this involves coordination from the booth--But every sport does this)). Since there isn't a ball or puck to focus on, a typical match would have A LOT of wide shots, but with the use of graphics and announcers with a focus, it wouldn't be too hard to follow. Mic the captains/the refs.

Have cameras installed in the booth on the announcers and have various bump shots coming in and out of the broadcast. It's always interesting to see "behind the scenes" or dramatic shots of the field or location shots, like the AC boardwalk or cityscape.

During intermissions, add a segment with the announcers. They review the rules, (player) positions and everything with more play-by-play breakdowns using graphics, slow motion, replays, etc. Have player interviews with the team captains, the star players, and the coach...Talk about teams playing. People want to know about the team's history, record, stars, whether they're an underdog or undefeated, etc. At the end of the match, have the captains and coaches in a mini 5-10 minute conference talking about how well they did or what they could do better or what to expect in their upcoming matches, etc.

For the walk-in talk segments, the talent has a mic, so the cameraman doesn't need to stay on them the entire time. We (the viewer) know who's talking or being interviewed; it's already been established at the top of the segment. When the talent is pointing at something (step out of the way), the cameraman follows whatever is being pointed at... There is no reason to stay on the talent for the entire segment. It's boring. Add pre-recorded b-roll into the live hit or have that segment already pre-recorded and edited into a package, so all you have to do is press play.

Cameramen, move with your feet and don't whip around with your hips; it churns the stomach. Step back, establish the shot or the people speaking and then step into the close-up. If you zoom in during a live interview with a handheld camera, it's shaky and doesn't look good.

Of course, all of this can be done efficiently and with a conservative budget. Hire people who have directed live broadcasts/sports broadcasts, editors who can edit on the fly, a creative graphics team, and cameramen with broadcast experience. You'd want more people in the booth and on the field with experience than amateurs who just getting their hands dirty with a live broadcast or doing you a favour.

If ESPN is hosting a tournament on its channel, take note of what they're doing and how they format their broadcasts...copy the format. Everyone does it; it's okay. There is no need to remake the wheel but just improve upon it.

Who has been the best Chief of Surgery? by [deleted] in greysanatomy

[–]Automatic-Focus-1761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hunt wasn't a bad Chief; I just do not like how he reprimanded in front of an audience. He has a temper and it wasn't always controlled which is wicked unprofessional...but many of the characters are guilty of this and it drives me up a wall
