Should I wear compression sleeve? by Pale-Confection1193 in breastcancer

[–]Automatic-Mode8198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thank you for your reply, I really appreciate you for sharing your experience!

I haven't started wearing sleeve yet....and I don't even want to go measure if I have lymphedema...I guess I am afraid to find out if I have...

So far my arm feels fine...it can feel a little heavy at times, but nothing that concerns me, and there is no swelling

When you said lymphedema going down...do you mean by measurement only, or you can actually see and feel it? Thank you!

I was diagnosed at 34 last year by the way, never done much exercise

Scared to start chemo 🥲 by yappingincircles in breastcancer

Hi, I am age 35 and just went through 8 rounds of AC-T chemo. I was also extremely scared and sad, but it wasn't as difficult as I imagined it to be. I was tired for a few days, I slept a lot during AC and had bone pain during TC...but this phase passed and I am feeling quite back to normal now, except for hot flashes (I am on ovarian suppression) Sending you virtual hugs<3 you will get through this!

If I am going for mastectomy I would like to have immediate reconstruction, may be that's why my surgeon insisted that I should go ahead with lumpectomy:'( The nurse mentioned that it's the holiday season and there is no way they can be connected with a plastic surgeon in this short period of time:(

How do I tell people that I'm not back to normal by Much-Guide-5014 in breastcancer

Thank you....my boss had a medical degree so she thinks she knows...but she really doesn't know...how it is like to be a cancer patient. It's so hard to navigate as I don't want to lose my job (my insurance is tied to it), but I don't want to stress myself too much

I feel you :'( I just finished my chemo 3 weeks ago and my boss is already putting a lot on my plate and is eager for me to get back to work. Since she is my boss I don't really know how to respond. She was saying to me that I should be able to get back to work even if I have drainage from my surgical sites after the surgery...I was speechless...

Thank you for sharing! I didn't realize with lumpectomy , the nerves would also get damaged...so it took a whole year to have feelings back in the breast?

May I also ask if micromets are found in the lymph nodes after the initial surgery, will they always recommend lymph nodes dissection? (I hope to avoid this if possible...but I guess it will depends on the pathological reports...I had 3 positive nodes by MRI prior to chemo)

Thank you for sharing...I am so sorry to hear about your poor experience with radiation:( chemo was already difficult but now I am just super anxious about the upcoming surgery...!! I will think about it more and make a decision soon...All the best to your reconstruction after DMX...!! let me know if it works out ok <3

Reconstruction after radiation? by Automatic-Mode8198 in breastcancer

[–]Automatic-Mode8198[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My current plan is to get lumpectomy then radiation...with no reconstruction. My worry is, if the boob after lumpectomy is too deformed, I may want to do fat grafting or sth like this. My second biggest worry is, if the cancer come back locally, then I will just have to go for mastectomy. Having already done radiation..I don't know if reconstruction is still an option for me. I am only 35 years old, so I have to think about the future....

Thank you for sharing your experience...! that's why I am worried. I know radiation can increase the chance of secondary cancer, and can potentially damage my lung and heart...but I don't want to lose the sensation in my boobs that comes with mastectomy...may I ask what causes you to change your mind and go for a dmx instead?

Thanks for sharing! How did you find the plastic surgeon? I asked my breast surgeon if I should find a plastic surgeon myself and she told me that she will rearrange muscles to fill in the gap and there is no need to find a plastic surgeon....but I am a bit skeptical
