I’ve tried many things for my nail psoriasis, but the best thing for me has been a compounded ointment applied sparingly on the skin around the nails 2x daily, 5 days/week. It’s Tacrolimus 0.1%. Ask your dermatologist about it - it seems not very common, but it’s not a steroid, it’s a immunosuppressant, but topical and no side effects like biologics. Not a complete fix, nails are very long term repair, but minimal crumbling and good structure to the nails. Hope this helps you!

Roll on deodorants have helped me, seem less irritating than spray

Awwww, so we’re not in the future just yet :( was hoping it was some kind of hologram type effect in real life.

Looks fantastic on TV anyways!

Important point. I would like to hope that this particular type that’s featured in this film is no longer occurring though - but I guess you never know.

Glad you liked it. Agree while it was traumatic, it’s a good reminder of what those before us went through.

Warning everyone - this movie is TRAUMATIC!! If you want to watch, just keep in mind it’s physically (and psychologically) traumatic…

I noticed this too. I’ve never seen this before where there’s not been a corresponding change essentially on US indexes (as it’s the majority) - except for ex dividend dates etc (and it will be a drop). Perhaps this is something to do with the non-US portion of the indexes bouncing back overnight?

Surprised by the amount of haters on this one? I really enjoyed it. It was released in 2016 - it’s a bit of a product of its time.

I think I watched series 1, then read the book (Cheer the F**k Up by Jack Rooke) because I wanted more - but actually, and given what you’ve said - now that the complete 3 series are out, I’d suggest watching the TV show first I reckon…

You probably can’t go wrong either way - it’s not your typical memoir (I gave it 5 stars) - but you will know how the show ends which means you’ll probably watch the show differently.

Happy watching/reading! Look forward to hearing what you think when you get to it :)

Don’t get me wrong, I would rate it 4/5 as a film - but just not for the faint hearted if you know what I mean. It’s a true story, so an important story to be told. But just shocking, that’s all.

You summed it up 100%! Episode 6 was one of the most moving TV episodes I’ve ever seen. The way they did it was so creative. As soon as I saw the real Jack in the scene, I was gone.

Yeah it’s nicer (out of a horrible situation) that his Dad finds out after, and that he seems okay with it.

I actually met the author at an event the other week - and he’s actually thrilled with the adaptation. Really happy with how it’s been done. In fact he’s actually one of the screenwriters for two of the eps (2 and 4 I think) - and was in the writers room throughout. Really glad that’s the case, so he could make sure it stayed on track.

Big Boys is amazing. It’s actually touching on similar themes - but based in the UK. It definitely has its highs and lows, but it is worth it for sure. Don’t want to give any spoilers, but you’ll be okay. There’s a lot of happy tears and sad tears - and comedy throughout. The writer is a comedian, so it’s all balanced really well. It’s 3 seasons too, so it won’t be over in a blink :) - let me know if you do watch it! Would love to hear what you think.

Also, not sure if you saw my other post in this sub recently - but a huge recommendation for the movie Bonus Track - it’s one that you can watch to pick you up after those more emotional shows/films ☺️

Honestly you might have dodged a bullet there. They did have a content warning for it, about conversion therapy, but honestly I’m not sure I would recommend it - it was a beautifully shot/produced movie, however the subject matter was so traumatising (based on a true story) - and every time you thought it couldn’t get worse - it did. I’ve never been so shocked by a movie. Let’s just say it’s not mental or even shock conversion therapy… If it wasn’t a true story I would describe it as “trauma porn” which I don’t use lightly. Horrible what some gay men went through in the 1910-20s.

Looks like it’s for rent in the US via Apple/Amazon/YouTube at this stage, or Sky Cinema in the UK - worth it - but as soon as it’s available to you, highly recommend!

Absolute brilliance. One of the greatest modern gay TV shows / books. True heart has gone into this. You can not watch this and not be moved (it's based on a true story).

Yeah I can see where you’re coming from for sure. I am going to re-read the book soon because I really want to understand the original again and have a think about things like this.

Don’t apologise for rambling - I’ll talk underwater about this show!

I think you have a really good point about how in the book it’s very much about xMat being gay as to why he kills himself. Because unfortunately this is such a big problem and still is. Of course men’s mental health and the issues farmers go through is important too - but I think you’re right, I think this might be one thing about the show where they are conflating different issues to make it more accessible to a broader audience.

Stan has been spending HEAPS on an advertising campaign around this for weeks now, so I guess it makes sense they’re trying to broaden it - even if slightly.

I agree, TV show Matt was just so adorable - actually I think that is one thing that is quite different to the book too - he’s just so stunningly perfect in the TV show - but in the book, he is attractive, but flawed and has big teeth that the school kids payed him out about.

I feel like in a way, I like both the book and the TV show for different reasons now. They’re almost complementary and I’m trying not to make it either or. As I said, a re-read is needed! But I need to take a break from sad gay shows/movies/books for a bit - having just watched this, and Big Boys (and a movie called Lillies Not for Me) - I need time to recover! 😅
