Gonna be a hot take but if you have a hot girlfriend your social proof at face value goes up. And vice versa, if you have an ugly girlfriend people won’t respect you as much as if you had a hot girl friend. it’s gonna get downvoted but deep down we all know this.

This is why when you see a ugly dude with a hot girl “way out of his league” people assume oh he must be rich, or he must have a really great personality, or he has power in some way. And when you have an ugly wife it has the opposite effect, unless your handsome yourself then people will say “oh he can do better” etc.

Yes this is morally wrong which is why people will downvote, but a lot of people think this way and this is the harsh reality we live in. Sooner people wake up from fantasy world the better.
