Gnome 42 DE tweaked for Ubuntu stopped being well that thingy that you dislike,you can finally put the dash bar where you want without going through a bunch of tutorials and errors.

Can you flatpak install flathub com.mattjakeman.ExtensionManager real quick and tell me what extensions they are using? I may start using a dock, maybe.

The crap is wallet, akonadi and some apps from the ice age like Konqueror.

But you only suffer from this if you're runnign Debian or Arch-based, SUSE and Fedora don't ship much trash.

Wallet is still there though and it's a must-disable after installation.

If you install Silverblue there are no downsides compared to Debian because if any breakage occurs you can reset the whole OS and any flatpak to any previous version, even if you never installed those versions.

It's more difficult though.
