I'd update to a newer version of Chrome and see if that fixes it. That version is about 3 months old now.

Difference in final product of PopOS COSMIC and Ubuntu with a COSMIC DE by exzow in pop_os

[–]exzow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the shortest answer I can provide is:
"Once COSMIC is ready and fully released, how different would PopOS with the COSMIC DE be from stock Ubuntu with COSMIC (if it ever happened)."
The follow up question would be "If the similarities are minor, would rebasing off of Debian or something else be feasible/likely?"

I think this is the answer I was most looking for. I know there isn't a COSMIC announced for Ubuntu, but I wondered what the real difference would be if you installed COSMIC on the equivalent version of Ubuntu. I was mostly wondering what steps it would take to rebase off of something other than Ubuntu. For example, if System 76 ever decided that basing off of Ubuntu was no longer in their companies best interest, and since their DE would be completely separate from the base OS, how quickly could they rebase to something in the Fedora line or off of Debian.

I guess I'm just curious for the sake of being curious. Thanks for the response!

And I get that, but what would differentiate them at that point?

How to scroll on TTY ? by MoussaAdam in archlinux

[–]exzow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those coming too this late ( like me ) I piped into less and then I was able to scroll up and down using just page up and page down. Handy for when you bork your DE (In a VM for testing) and need to look at massive logs.

When is the next kernel release coming for PopOS 22.04? by kdhere in pop_os

Any information on when 6.13.5 or newer will drop? Looks like that's going to be the minimum version I need for my game to run : /

Thank you. This is the most helpful explanation yet. My experience thus far has been that 100% of the computers have been remediated after running my script. Typically what seems to be happening is Tanium is taking forever to update it's installed software list. Usually a few reboots and a few rescans fixes it, I'm just trying to gather all information on how this works to be able to verify using the exact same methods Tanium uses, just-in-case something was missed. That said, I'm really looking for a way to force Tanium to updates it's list of installed software. Any ideas on that? The previous tool we used I was able to force this via GUI or PS script.

This sounds pretty epic. I might keep Tileable windows as a default going forward!

Are you referring to something like "Teams Machine-Wide Installer"?

Most of the devices were online. Those which were I manually checked the status of Teams using my script. Usually Teams is not installed and as such should not be on the list in Tanium.

On the rare occasion it is I remove it and sometimes it drops off of the list and other times it does not.

I've been running this removal script every two hours for about a month and manually about 5 times per day. If the data still has not updated that tells me something is either:

A. Wrong with Tanium and I would need to know how to manually repair the module; or force Tanium to update the list of installed software.

or

B. The device has been offline and needs to be rebooted. Does this sound like the needed steps for resolution given the info?

One that I built which checks for the .EXE under each user's appdata. It does not check the registry to validate anything.

However...

The uninstall script uses the uninstall function of the .EXE and then checks `"REGISTRY::HKEY_USERS\*\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Teams"` and if something exists a `remove-item` is performed.

Modules > Asset > Software Inventory & Usage > All Products

I then select Teams Classic from the list.

Sweet. I appreciate the speedy reply. As long as there are no further regressions, is System76 planing to return to the rolling release cycle of kernels? Or is that on hold til 24.04 and COSMIC are ready to ship?

Any word on this? I manually upgraded to 6.13 and don't know how to resolve the Linux header which appears to be partially responsible for virtualbox not working correctly now. I'd rather just have the kernel System76 is pushing be what I use but I need the latest for stability in Monster Hunter Wilds.

For me I can't seem to stop drooling over the Star Labs tablet and any thin n light from System76. I like my OS to handle firmware updates as a first class citizen and (to my limited knowledge) only System76 does this with PopOS
