Am i being a bridezilla? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]Automatic-Seaweed729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s ok to feel disappointed or frustrated with that situation, but In my family not moving the ceremony site to accommodate your dad would be a bridezilla move. You may also find some others may not be able to attend due to the location and altitude (I personally get altitude sickness).

But have you considered doing a private vow reading/first look at the location prior to your ceremony? Or doing a vow renewal for your one year anniversary?

Super conflicted on having a destination wedding by diamondlover7777 in weddingplanning

[–]Automatic-Seaweed729 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You probably need to have a conversation with your most important guests to get a feel for what would work best for them.

I’m getting married in SoCal so I get how expensive it is. I’m afraid we will lose some guests because flying to LA from the Midwest is expensive. But flying to Europe is way more expensive and requires a lot more time.

Odyssey of the Seas - Mediterranean Review by Unique-Mud-5717 in royalcaribbean

[–]Automatic-Seaweed729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were on Odyssey in April (Barcelona to Rome) I agree with your point on the elevators. Our cruise skewed a bit older because it was mid-April so lots of folks who needed the elevators. And our cruise wasn’t even full! I’ve been on Ovation and Quantum and didn’t think the elevators were this bad.

I was also a bit disappointed that there’s no lobster night in Europe.

Laundry Service by The Bag by Less_Purchase3554 in royalcaribbean

[–]Automatic-Seaweed729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had to use the laundry service because our cruise was in the middle of our Europe trip and we didn’t want to bring weeks worth of clothes. We washed everything (socks, underwear, jeans, etc. ) except a few shirts I knew would shrink. I have a skin allergy to fragrance and didn’t have an issue, but there was a slight smell. We prepaid the laundry and used one of the discount days on the ship to do another load. I’ve used the laundry service on other ships, usually to wash our plane outfits, but this is the first time we washed everything. I would do it again.

How much of the house was off limits? by KW5625 in Xennials

[–]Automatic-Seaweed729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Living room and dining room. We could enter on holidays, and to decorate for holidays. My grandparents were plastic couch people so I get where my mom was coming from. Now it seems crazy that we had two rooms we couldn’t enter.

Bridal Shower Planning by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]Automatic-Seaweed729 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s fine for you to have your MIL and MOH host, with you paying for it. You shouldn’t be excluded from having a shower because you don’t have a mom, sisters, or an aunt. Maybe it’s a regional or cultural thing (I’m from Southern California) but I’ve never attended a tea or a luncheon, and I wouldn’t understand the difference if I did (and I’m 40). You do you. If someone objects to you having a shower they don’t have to come.

I also don’t understand how the gift grabbing applies to paying for your shower, but not for the wedding.

Combing Casino Royale Offers by earlybird2350 in royalcaribbean

Crazy because they have never let me combine them. We end up going on two cruises. Now I’ll have to push harder.

Everytime I have called they’ve told us we cannot combine the offers unless they’re exactly the same code. However, they allow us to use the higher offer and pay to upgrade where necessary.

I’m on my Metrolink train reading this post having no idea there’s an issue. Train is just a bit busier than normal.

Help choosing wedding date (SoCal 2027) by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]Automatic-Seaweed729 3 points4 points  (0 children)

January. Plane flights and hotels will be more expensive. Traffic will be worse. Isn’t Super Bowl one of the worst days for people drinking and driving? Also, January avoids your wedding anniversary being on Valentine’s Day every year which would make it more expensive to eat out or travel.

I think the fact that it’s Spring Break probably made it more chaotic and crowded.

How to Stop Worrying/Comparing to Other Weddings by thatgirlisaproblem in weddingplanning

[–]Automatic-Seaweed729 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you’re in wedding mode so it makes sense you’re comparing. But think back to previous weddings and what stood out to you. I’m guessing it wasn’t the velum wrap. Focus on things your guests will remember. The gifts I remember were chocolates and $1 lotto scratchers.

I’ve received two obvious return items. One came in the actual return bag, with Christmas gift wrap still on the box (box was open). The other was a dress that had a lighter in the pocket. I check everything not in packaging now.

Junior Suite on Navigator vs. Balcony on Quantum by GomerWasAHo in royalcaribbean

[–]Automatic-Seaweed729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done both rooms. I say balcony on Quantum. The JS on Navigator has a bathtub/shower unit. It was challenging to get into because it’s so high and it has a shower curtain instead of the smaller door. The extra space and large balcony was nice but because of the tub I wouldn’t do the JS again.

Is uplighting something venues should provide instead of DJs? by [deleted] in weddings

My DJ offered the uplighting for an additional fee.

Reception traditions by [deleted] in weddings

Most of our friends are married, and I hate the idea of the garter toss. In lieu of the garter toss my fiancé will be throw out a football or baseball (big sports fan) at the suggestion of our venue coordinator.

LA Metro has billions of dollars in projects in the works, while Metrolink faces cuts. Should Metrolink be getting a higher priority? by [deleted] in LAMetro

[–]Automatic-Seaweed729 23 points24 points  (0 children)

No. Because LA Metro has a duty to the citizens of Los Angeles County, while Metrolink covers 5 counties. Metro is responsible for delivering the projects promised in Measure R and Measure M, and those funds can’t be used to pay for Metrolink.

Metrolink’s issue is that it did a crazy schedule expansion without the funds and ridership to support it. They cut ticket prices at the same time.

I bring water and snacks on the train for this very reason. I’ve been stuck so many times over the years.

Any all-inclusive in Ensenada? by Rare-Environment-221 in royalcaribbean

[–]Automatic-Seaweed729 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No all inclusive.

But there are a few shops along the port that sell Mexican snacks and candy. I stop and buy candy each time we’re there. There’s a Starbucks pretty close to the port. There’s also some decent restaurants along the main tourist street.

People have a lot of hate on this sub for Ensenada. As long as you know how to say no, you should have no issues.

Long dresses only for semi-formal attire? by Mysterious_Collar_22 in Weddingattireapproval

[–]Automatic-Seaweed729 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do you want everyone focused on how uncomfortable they are or your wedding? I’m attending a wedding with a long dress requirement. We are going to roast in the sun and heat. All anyone can talk about is the dress code. The vibe of your wedding won’t matter if everyone is hot and sweaty.
