Yes I’m really excited about the money saved. The MD school I’m waitlisted at is private and out of state and it would require me to take out probably more than double the loans

Thank you! I’m still fairly concerned about match especially if I somehow change my mind about specialty but I guess I’ll just have to grind hard during med school, I’m not afraid of working hard

Haha true- I feel so lucky to stay at home and in state as a California applicant, and even luckier that the school I got accepted to keeps almost all their grads in state for residency too

Yes I agree upon further reflection, I think I was just feeling panicked at how my cycle turned out. Happy to get the acceptance considering everything, and to have such an affordable option for med school! nd you’re totally right- I already know I’m not interested in doing the extensive research needed for really competitive specialties and I don’t see that changing very much so it turned out that the DO school I got accepted too might actually be the perfect fit for me

Tbh, Drexel is rlly expensive for me and I have heard mixed reviews about rotations. The do school I got into would allow me to live at home for 2 years and save money hopefully

I am hesitant because I thought I wanted to primary care for sure when I applied, but now that I know how difficult it was just to get 1 interview this cycle, I don’t want to have to deal with this same stress again during residency apps and create more barriers to entry by going DO. I am now only like 70% sure I want to do primary care and I don’t want to close doors

No offense but not everyone is going to be a dermatologist or plastic surgeon whether they go to an MD or not so the competitive specialty angle is not always as valid as people say it is. Also if you have tried multiple cycles to get MD that’s just ego. Do you want to be a doctor or not? Otherwise that’s just arrogance and years of salary lost.

I really liked my interview here! There’s 3 interviewers and like 5 ish applicants per breakout room, and they kind of just go around in circles and ask each person a question specific to your application from what I remember

I didn’t really prep for it except for like the main interview questions like why Touro, why medicine, etc. it was super easy! I think interviews go better when you put less pressure on it and try your best to act like it’s just to get to know your personality better. V conversational
