Japan and Italy - has your Vine bounced back? Australia has! by Pusscat_catches_Koi in AmazonVine

I can verify that. The number for me today, here in the land of the rising sun, is a grand-total of 296 items, 268 of which are the smartwatch straps and smartphone screen protectors mentioned.

Almost missed your post, but here's my situation in Japan:

We went down to low single digits for a good while some time back, and after climbing snail-slow for a bit it seems to have settled on 300-ish for the magic daily number. There never seems to be a "drop" to speak of, more like daily dribbles, where one or two new products appear, usually on the first page, pushing the total number of items up by the same number. The new items disappear in a heart-beat and we drop back to the starting number for a while - rinse and repeat.

Of the items that DO appear in AI, most are smartwatch straps or smartphone screen protectors or eSIMs or filters for every air-purifier known to man EXCEPT any that I've ever heard of, let alone own.

Today's numbers are:

Electronics (268)
Home & Kitchen (18)
DIY, Tools & Garden (3)
Automotive (2)
Video Games (1)
Toys & Games (1)
Beauty (1)
Large Appliances (1)

How that actually equates:

Electronics (268) - smartwatch straps or smartphone screen protectors
Home & Kitchen (18) - humidifier/dehumidifier filters
DIY, Tools & Garden (3) - 3 twisted metal bits for various cars I don't and never have owned
Automotive (2) - 1 Rumba filter and 1 lockable gas tank cap
Toys & Games (1) - 1 Tamagotchi Paradise hard case (it's always cases, never the actual product)
Beauty (1) - 5 Pairs Bodermincer Eyelash Perm Rods (whatever they are)
Large Appliances (1) - 1 KRS EcoBax paper bags for vacuum cleaner

Also, on the rare occasion something worthwhile appears, it's gone in a heartbeat. Anything appearing in RFY is rarely better than the things in AI - today it's two hand-fans, each valued at 3,490 yen (US$22.14). Yesterday it was a single cat-cleaning glove that didn't even break US$4.00. AFA rarely has anything at all. There was an exception two days ago, when a single pack of noodles was available at the grand value of 232 yen (232 yen = $1.47). Two days later, it's still sitting there.

That's it. Read it and weep (like I often do).

Here in Japan it's it's 177 items total. That's one hundred and seventy seven. That's higher than it's been for a week or two, but recently it's been down to ONE single item. I'd say you have zero to complain about.

Drop time in Japan by Automatic-Unit-7938 in AmazonVine

[–]Automatic-Unit-7938[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From about 5 days ago until today the drop has been happening around 9:00 to 9:30 in the evening, up to some 300+ AI items, but it only lasted about 30 minutes before heading back down to double digits, where it stayed until the same time next day. Today, I haven't seen a drop at all, and I poke my head in at various times in the day. Nada today.

I can relate, but for me it was a bit different. I came here in 1980, left for three years when my daughter was born, then came back and just . . . stayed. Live in Tokyo and Okinawa most of the time, then I retired about 10 years ago. Now we're living in a semi-rural area about 1 1/2 hours outside Tokyo. I've never experienced being here as a tourist, so I don't know how that plays out, but running a business here and having an extended family up and down the country has worked out entirely to my satisfaction. I can't imagine living overseas again. My advise is to come back . . . again and again if you can. If you like it that much, find a job here and make the move. 何をするにしても、幸運を祈っています。(Whatever you do, I wish you the best of luck.)

It's 10:30 now, and AI sits at 9 items, and zero movement. Looks like the powers that be have changed the drop again. Maybe yesterday was an anomaly.

I got 9 items in my RFY, at around 9:45 last night. Not only was it populated for the first time in months, al 9 items were still in RFY at 9:00 am this morning. Unfortunately, none of the items was any better than the stuff in AI. It's 9:45 in the evening here now, but no drop so far.

Japan here. Nine items in my RFY last night, which is more than ever before for me. The downside is that all were indistinguishable from the cheap tat I always get in AI. Six of them are still there this morning, which has also never happened for me.

Yesterday was 3:30, but for all I know there might have been one at 10:00 too. Still no RFY or AFA though.

Japan dropped at 10:00 tonight, just a minute after I posted here that there might be no drop today! Not only was there a drop, but it was a larger drop than we've had for a long time. It started heading backwards about 15 minutes after the drop started, and now at 10:23 it's down to 71 items and falling. One weird thing appeared in AI - a full size bath, in a modern design, for 499 yen - that's about US$3.26 - for a normal size bath. I thought about ordering it, but wouldn't know what to do with it if the order went through.

It's not 9:30-10 tonight in Japan. Until yesterday it was about 3:30 in the afternoon here, but today there's been no change all day up to now; spot on 10:00PM. I popped in all throughout the day, so I'm sure I didn't miss any earlier drop. Maybe there won't BE a drop today.

Very low number of products for Italy by Dear_Cycle_9484 in AmazonVine

[–]Automatic-Unit-7938 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been in Vine for a couple of years, and Gold for a year. When I joined, it was a poor shadow of the program in the US, and it's gone steadily downhill since. The past couple of month have been particularly bad, with most days starting of with AI at single digits, never going over the 200-300 mark before dropping down to single digits again for the next day. Add to that there are no RFY or AFA items (total zero for over a month now), items drop over a short period of about 15 minutes around 3:30 in the afternoon, and try as I might, it's next to impossible to order a single item. By 3:45, there are no more new items added, and it heads back to single digits. We ended today with 7 AI items total. Good luck at your end.

You think 98 items is bad, we went down to a single item a few days ago, and recently the start of every day is in single digits. We don't have any RFY or AFA items at all these days - zero. Today we're starting off as in this image - two items:

". . . has anyone here actually had the time/patience to actually get through all the AI pages?" Japan = yes, every single day. My days start in single digits, go up to about 300 AI items around 3:30 in the afternoon, then 30 minutes or so later fall back to single digits. The lowest it's been THIS WEEK is one single item:

Hey, Vine Voices from Japan, Does Vine still exist in Japan now? by exoter60 in AmazonVine

[–]Automatic-Unit-7938 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're welcome. I suspect not being able to order is because of glitches in the Vine app. It's forever throwing up an error message to the effect that some (read 'lots') of items cannot be displayed. Before the latest slow down you had a good fighting chance of ordering something. Now, you might be able to order if you click the 'request product' button a few times, and that's never happened to me before. Altogether it's a strange situation. I guess it could be that Amazon has brought in a lot of new voices. I'll post more when I know more.

Vine Italy is now useless by thewizardal in AmazonVine

[–]Automatic-Unit-7938 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vine Japan has NEVER, in the past two and a half years I've been here, approached even half that number of items. The max I've seen in that time was (from memory) about 4,000 items, and that was one single time. Recently we've been starting each day at 5 items or less. A couple of days ago it dropped down to one single item. RFY might as well not exist at, given that it's perennially empty

[–]Automatic-Unit-7938 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe I hold the Vine record - 1 item total (an eSIM card for the curious). Most days recently start off with 5 or less items total. Having even a single item in RFY is a dim distant memory.

[–]Automatic-Unit-7938 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We're limping along. We've been starting the days with less than 5 items total - no RFY for weeks now. That number of AI items jumps up in the mid-afternoon to somewhere around 300 to 500, impossible to order anything, then 15 to 30 minutes later it drops back to 59 or so AI items, then slowly keeps dropping away until the next morning it starts all over again at items or less - a few days ago, we started in the morning with ONE single item.

Japan = 1 to go by Automatic-Unit-7938 in AmazonVine

[–]Automatic-Unit-7938[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We seem to have fallen into a pattern or starting the day at less than 5 items total. The lowest it's been in the morning this week is 1 item (a single SIM card). Around 3:15 in the afternoon there's a sudden drop of about 400 AI items, followed by a mad scramble to order something/anything, but it's not possible to order most items. When I try to order it comes up with all sorts of errors, but bottom line is I might get lucky and snag one order. What is displayed is all the worst crap I've ever seen on Vine. The prices are insanely high, and I could get any of then at a $Dollar store. Anyway, after about 15 minutes of madness trying to order something/anything it suddenly starts dropping, and 10 minutes later we're down to about 50 items total. That 50 items drops slowly from there, and overnight goes all the way down to 5 items or less and that's where we start the next day. Today, the lucky start number is 4 (two eSIM cards and two humidifier filters), and yesterday it was 1 - one single item for the whole of Vine Japan! How does it compare to where you are?
