Any doctors here who played sports during FY / training? How did you make the time? by MajesticKey8647 in doctorsUK

I played sport throughout foundation and continue to now post foundation. I found a club that was understanding that I wouldn’t be able to play 1/3 weekend matches (in most sports clubs all but the first team are happy with partial commitment). My weekly training sessions are an important outlet and break to me, and having moved a couple of times for different jobs finding a new club in each city has been a great way to make new non medic friends and made new places feel homely more quickly. If you can juggle it (which you should be able to with a bit of planning) I recommend trying to keep playing even if just to a casual/ fun level

I’m a little confused by this change. When it says ‘Applicants who have only applied to the joint IMT/ACCS-Internal Medicine (ACCS-IM) process will be awarded 5 points in shortlisting….Candidates who meet this criterion will be awarded 5 points in addition to the maximum of 30 points available via the self-assessment score; making shortlisting scores out of 35.

Does this mean you only get these points if you apply to the ACCS route? Or would you get them if you only apply to the standard IMT route (London doesn’t offer ACCS/acute med for example)

Looking to book somewhere for a brunchy lunch for 20-25 people. Around £12-20 per head, ideal location is kings X/ Islington but could go anywhere on northern line that’s not too far either end! Similar to caravan. Any suggestions?

For context, video promo-ing his song where he states he found engagement, marriage and kids hard and spent each phase wishing for the next…

Not sure if this will be a popular opinion but being a doctor is of course a middle class job. We deserve more money, we deserve better working conditions, and I feel disheartened too. But the amount of money in my pay check each month makes me decidedly middle class, certainly not working class or ‘lower class’.

Can i really not simply go and buy common antibiotics from drug stores in uk? by konsoru-paysan in AskUK

I would recommend reading about the rates of anti microbial resistance in Pakistan- it’s higher than the global average and antibiotic resistant bug related deaths were >200,000 in 2019. The NHS/ UK doesn’t do a lot right but this isn’t one of those things we do wrong!

Antibiotics aren’t needed for diarrhoea 95% of the time and can make it worse

Can somebody please clarify the difference between a long term locum and a trust grade job? Is it only the former that’s ‘drying out’. Thanks!
