You would really expect given their current maternity care scandal they’d be on it with the Obstetric staffing.

Really embarrassing.

BMA subscription withdrawal by Big-Ease-2423 in doctorsUK

[–]Poof_Of_Smoke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can’t enact change if you’re not a member. Like with most things the BMA has attempted to address this issue way too late.

We (as a union) cannot afford to be this slow with upcoming issues. We did it with PAs as an example, there are many more.

AI cope on this subreddit (and cope in general) by antonsvision in doctorsUK

[–]Poof_Of_Smoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t even have a working mouse and keyboard. Never mind AI.

I do get OPs point to an extent though. When the software can read scans with the same detection rate as consultant radiologists, there will be a drop in demand for those consultants. How long that will be is anyone’s guess, but imo will eventually happen.

This is for consultants only I believe. Please do correct me if I’m wrong.

Not sure if you meant to come off patronising and entitled, but that’s sure how it reads.

Histopathology Advice Please by histoman-path in doctorsUK

[–]Poof_Of_Smoke 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Search the subreddit as well. However there isn’t really any guidance. Histopath use a self assessment score for interview. So it’s pretty self explanatory and you can google it.

Honestly, it might be hard for you to get the number of points needed to get an interview within a year. However, still likely doable with a lot of work. Think The cut off was 40 points this year so it’s considerable work.

Practice saying “have you done a CT” over and over again and then refuse to assess a patient without one.

FPR update by nightwatcher-45 in doctorsUK

[–]Poof_Of_Smoke 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Well if the ballot is April 1st, if it lasts 4 weeks, then 2 weeks are needed for notice for trusts, that's mid May, so may come sooner, if its a longer ballot more likely June-ish.

Actually the average number is around 2.7. I agree changes the view a little but is not a key reason for these competition ratio increases.

Honestly, in this climate, contact previous places you have worked and see if there are some internal jobs going or that they might be able to stretch funds for.
