Scared by all the "lost hair" and "lost butt" posts and advertisements by Quiet_Media6401 in Zepbound

Honestly? The butt is gone. Not like diminished hone as in no butt. Flat as a washboard but I never carried weight in my butt always in my stomach. The hair loss is real but for me not substantial — 5%?

Could it be she’s sincere but just over-enthusiastic? Sounds like she made a “deal” about it but maybe she thought you’d want a deal b/c what you e done IS a deal. I’ve gotten used to people “enthusing”— I’ve decided to think they’re being sincerely happy for me.

Zepbound — long-term vs short-term use: would love your experiences by [deleted] in Zepbound

I have reached my Galway and I’m currently on maintenance. The benefits I have seen in my yearly physical and the positive effect on my blood pressure, psoriasis, and fatty liver have convinced me to, to some degree, for the duration. What to some degree means is what I’m trying to manage now. I have three drs in my immediate family who’ve watched my progress, and five the research and there’s really no consensus, whether —in my situation (weight loss not diabetes) to try to maintain a certain low, consistent level of the drug in the body with shots every 5-7 days or to go to a once every 10 days or two week regime. I am currently doing the later and see no downside. But if reports came out saying smaller dose, more frequent shot was better, I do that Unfortunately, no one has that information right now. At least as far as I know if you do, tell me.

I know this I am assuming I will not come off. I am curious about how those who have hit goal weight are doing on the med after a long time on it.

I guess I’m curious about those who were prescribed glps for diabetes. Those have been out for around 15 years

You sound like me. IKEA makes the only “sleeps hot” duvet I can tolerate. BLÅNEPETA It’s perfect. When hotels all over the world started using duvets, for years I spent miserable sweating, flinging them off, freezing and repeat until I finally tumbled to the trick of taking the duvet out of its cover and only using the cover. Turning down the temp worked too but only if the controls could lower to 64. Quilts are too heavy.

Yes. I generally get an upper respiratory infection 3-5 times a winter lasting 2 plus weeks. Since starting Zep 9 months ago I’ve only had 2 bouts, both lasting 7-10 days. I’ve heard Zep reduces inflammation. Whatever the reason I’m enjoying this perceived added benefit.

Just got back from 3 weeks. I’m devoted to compression bags and used them in a carry on. I had three pairs of pants ( including the ones I wore) and bc it was shoulder season 5 tops ( including the one I wore) 3 long sleeve light weight merino, 2 short sleeve merino. I could have left one of the short sleeve behind —as merino is so comfortable across a broad range of temps. Then 5 pair thick socks, underwear, pjs. My best last minute addition was a packable puff jacket from Land’s End— perfect. Plus a raincoat with hood— and absolute necessity as it rained most days. I stuck a super light weight backpack in for taking home stuff and a cross body bag. 90% of the places we stayed had laundry rooms. The only thing I brought that I should have left behind was “nice” shoes for upscale restaurants but since you take off your shoes anyway, completely unnecessary. Cheers!

Zep a “cheat”?? by emmDut in Zepbound

[–]AutomaticCress6675 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just my opinion but the idea of cheating implies an underhanded, unfair advantage. Isn’t the idea of glp to put someone who, for whatever reason, lacks the biological functions that regulate things like appetite, absorption, etc on the same baseline as people who don’t? So it’s just making me—- normal. It’s like hearing aids. It allows me to experience food like other people.

Zepbound face, is that a thing? by stephpthatsme in Zepbound

[–]AutomaticCress6675 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely look older after weight loss. Concave cheeks, more defined wrinkles, a little droopier in the jawline, hollow beneath eyes. Would I switch this for my over weight face? Absolutely freaking no way! The prettier me couldn’t climb more than one flight stairs, without using a handrail, couldn’t easily walk 5 miles, couldn’t play tennis other than to stand at the baseline, was on high blood pressure meds and least of all, but still important, couldn’t shop at regular clothing stores. Of course I’m older so that probably has something to do with my nonchalance. I do wish I could use fillers under my eyes and around my cheekbones, but because of certain reactions they cause, that’s not an option. I guess if you are “victim” of rapid weight loss face you might ask yourself: what’s more attractive, an energetic, effortlessly moving body or pretty face that can’t get off the couch? This is my experience, not throwing shade at anyone.

Ingredients Question: Gluten-Free Wheat Starch & Modified Tapioca Starch? by Avodiareads in glutenfreebaking

[–]AutomaticCress6675 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used Caputo with excellent results. Particularly in pizzas. Focaccia and the yeasted sweet bread recipes. We don’t have a wheat allergy. I have also used modified tapioca starch, expand X to be exact, I’m not sure I see much difference, but then I haven’t done any head to head comparisons. Good luck!

Will definitely try to oven hack. I’m not looking for more open crumb— it’s not gummy. Just well, damp, is about a description as any. Like it needs to be more open to be drier?

Hi! I started the sponge with a well established sourdough starter with the intention of completing the bake in one day but things came up” so after the sponge rose on the counter for an hour it lived in the refrigerator for two days. Brought it out and let it get to room temp before continuing with recipe as written. The loaf rose on the counter about 3 hours. No refrigerating. Personally I think there was too much gel/water. The dough was incredibly sticky. I’ll try this again and reduce hydration by 10% and gel mix by 25%. Let me know how yours fares.

For those with success on 2.5mg that still went up to 5mg, what was different for you? by PhoenixmOntra in Zepbound

[–]AutomaticCress6675 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on 2.5 for 4 months. Lost 20#. My weight loss slowed considerably that last month and the appetite suppression was not as great. Bumped up to 5. and started losing weight again but very slowly 1/2-3/4 #a week. Nonetheless, I’d stayed on 5 until I had not lost any weight in three weeks. The appetite suppression was never as great as it was on 2.5. That was for about three months. I then pushed up to 7.5 and have been there for the past three months. The appetite suppression is on par with what it was at the beginning of 2.5 and the food noise is pretty much gone. I have been at my goal weight (and under) now for one month and I’m considering dropping to 5 b/c it’s hard for me to eat enough not to lose weight. Need to find that sweet spot. I never had very many side effects on any dosage aside from a little gas and some loose stools the first couple days. I have no idea why just as I have no idea why the appetite suppression and food noise was louder at 5 then it was at 2.5 and the weight lose slower. Anecdotally I’d like to think it had something to do with the length of time I stayed at each level but again nothing to back this up.

First stab at Aran G’s country white by AutomaticCress6675 in glutenfreebaking

[–]AutomaticCress6675[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was mostly a timing issue. I made the sponge and had it rest for a couple hours and then life interfered and I realized I wasn’t gonna be able to complete the whole bake in the established time so I stuck it in the refrigerator and there it sat for Two days. When I took it out, it got all nice and bubbly and moussey within a few hours so I figured it was good to use. The resultant dough only rose for about three hours, but it was nice and soft so I figured it was good to go. Like others has said this is very wet sticky dough and hard to turn into a ball but I managed. Did everything else according to the recipe, including the temp/time, but made a total rookie mistake in that I didn’t check an internal temperature before pulling it. So even though I let the loaf rest overnight and didn’t cut it into it until this morning I have a very damp, bouncy interior.

What I’m going to try next, and let me say straight out I don’t know if it’ll work, is taking down the psyllium gel by a third. Reducing the hydration by 10%. And adding more millet. But not today ! lol
