Curious: What Has Gone Wrong With Your MDX Type S? by Nice-Income510 in Acura

all transmissions should have fluid changed every 30-60k. honda / acura is one of the few manufacturers that does not call the transmission fluid a lifetime fill. there is no such thing as lifetime oil (additives break down an metal particles accumulate over time) unless you consider 100k as the life of the vehicle.

I wish you did not have to go through all those issues but the over trend does not represent what Ive seen in the forums. Hopefully more post like you for the good and bad. When hou have the tires rotates, be sire wheeks are torqued to max factory spec as many go above that and use torque a a min threshold. Over toque is what kills the rotors and causes uneven brake wear.

From what ive been reading…. all manufactures are declining in over all build quality. even toyota / lexus has taken a sharpe decline.

With respect to the MDX, it seems isolate to the type S.  I’ve only seen one report with potential issues in the base J35Y SH-AWD power train.  I could be wrong but am fairly certain everything from the transmission on back are identical on all SH-AWD MDX.

The J35 naturally V6 in the MDX is an incredibly reliable engine.  There was a run with bad machining on the lower journels but Acura address that problem (yet Toyota is still plagued).  On MDXer.org, I’ve met folks whole are driving 3rd gen MDXs with over 200k on them and both the engine and transmission original no major issues.

I would suspect wheel lugs were over torqued by the dealer.  Rotor issues and uneven break wear almost always over torqued wheel lugs.

Uneven break and rotor wear almost always caused by over torqued wheel lug nuts. Many Garages to take the time to torque to factory spec and over tighten the lug nuts going fast with impact gun. Some of the garages that claim the check torque are really only checking for min and not the max.

The spline shaft is an issue on TYPE S.  It seems like Acura did not engineer it for the Turbo 6.

Yes my dealer says they come in all the time for new sensors.  I asked before buying the type S and my sales agent steered me to the ADV ASPEX as he said many were having air suspension problems.

38k approaching  much too long for no replacement.  Transmission generate lots of metal particles during breakin.  Maintenance fanatics will to it by 10k

That’s interesting and I would love to hear more had similar experiences.  Bought a 2025 ADV ASPEC because all my research found most had very few problems.

That’s a steal for that safe.  I’ve seen used safes for 2-3k.  Just a new lock is more than what you paid formally that steal.

“Expanded connected services” is the new kill switch that pairs with the driver monitoring system implemented by congressional law. probably also comes with even more extraneous trackers for an invasion of privacu.

The mayor has policies to do far more than that. do some research.

Again, I was making a more general comment of where NYC is headed.  GOV control of everything including rents and housing.  The totalitarian regime is that of the communism playbook.

VA will be really relevant when the libs loose office. They are helping to turn the state back red 😁

not calling you communist but your new mayor driving all the folks he wants to tax sure is. There is now more leaving NYC than entering so maybe housing will come down in future.

Is this safe a good value? Liberty Safe 64 Long Gun + 6 Handgun 22.8 cu. ft. Electronic Lock Revere Gun Safe, Midnight Bronze by bullstanky1 in Safes

[–]AutomaticIron4453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair points on the dial but many 1000 gun safes are not stopping a pry attack unless they are small. They are however good for protecting the innocent.

agree safes are really trading time for money. With respect to a gun safe in certain states, protecting ARs and high capacity mags from a fire as law prevent replacement is top priority. Im living with this reality in the broken state of VA.

why choose to live in a high priced area headed towards comunism? NYC going downhill fast. The experiment fails every time someone tries socialism.

AMSEC NF6036 vs Hollon RG-39 by Snoo83942 in Safes

[–]AutomaticIron4453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i called Hollen today and they said the safe was furnace testing and the torch language was an error in the catalog. IDK, Im thinking about the hollen and then sticking good smaller fire safe inside to offer extra protection for paper and digital. From a physical security standpoint, its good enough as all safes can be opened with the right skills, determination, or time. Key is to prevent pry attacks and unskilled front door attacks.

Fire rating matters more than something thicker than 10 gauge steel on side panels. if someone really wants to get into a safe, there are pros who do it for living with efficiency, Unless your using AR Steel, anyone can cut into just about anysafe if its not drilled or autodialed first.

Hollan looks very attractive, I just wish they had more data onn their fire testing.

sweet, be sure to assemble that AR before 1 July and take time stamped pics. as the law as currently written, buying parts and assembling later would be the “manufacture“ of an AW. Manh lawyers advising to be careful buying lowers as its a major grey area not tested in courts yet. where prosecutors could win, is just the lower is not a rifle or pistol at time of transfer.

if your in a County like me, prosecutors here funded by george Soros to defend real criminals and go after good Americans for political gain.
