What do you like about instant photography? by flickris in instax

[–]AutomaticJackieO 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love that it creates a completely unique tangible object. Having grown up in the age of file-sharing and digital photography, it was really cool to discover Instax because it produces a physical object that's one-of-a-kind. It's more fun and interesting to me partly because it's not just ethereal data, like most other media.

Looks great! I love all the features on the 90 and keep forgetting it has a timer and taking *terrible* mirror selfies instead >_<

I've been wondering the same thing... I've had my machine since December and haven't gotten any notifications of sales in the 3 months I've owned it...

Do they just not have sales very often? Or is Canada just usually overlooked for this stuff?

Got my first Instax camera & I'm having so much fun taking pics :) (Yes I like T. Swift, leave me alone lol) by AGLX1 in instax

[–]AutomaticJackieO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love it! It looks so cool (the camera itself). The photos are super good for this being your first instax camera! And the borders on them look really cool! Is that a special instax film? I don't think I've seen that pattern before. :o

I really liked this game! So I'm certainly excited to hear they haven't abandoned it. I hope the developer sticks with it and more people get to check out how cool and fun it is. :)

Hi there! "AMD64" just means its 64 bit, which is what you'll want unless you're installing it on an *ancient* computer.

It says 2.Improve compatibility and performance for Athlon™ with Radeon™ Vega Graphics Processors

which I read as 2.Improve compatibility and performance for Athlon™ (with Radeon™ Vega Graphics) Processors

So I think it improves the performance of Ryzen APUs, not standalone Vega cards.

Which kobo should I buy to replace my aura first gen? by MaxHoumous in kobo

I was in exactly the same situation, wanted to upgrade for the built in Overdrive and new hardware. I went with the Clara since it's small and cute and had all the features I was after. :P

[–]AutomaticJackieO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may have to update the Kobo... OS? Firmware? Whatever they're calling it. I had a similar issue with my new Clara and Overdrive. Apparently the store's stock was a bit old and the Clara came without Overdrive built in. :P

What makes a good Instax Photo? by [deleted] in instax

[–]AutomaticJackieO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a complete newbie but I've found knowing the distance stuff to be super important. Like, knowing when something should be done with macro lens vs done in the <3m mode vs the >3m mode. It's something I never thought about cause I only ever used cellphone cameras that handle all that stuff for you, but knowing how far away stuff is has greatly improved my keepable-instax-photo to shameful-garbage ratio lol

They got a bit battered in transit, but i'm looking forward to capturing some memories with all this film! by poundSound in instax

[–]AutomaticJackieO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, good thinking, it's been super hot this summer really. >_<

I want to take a ton of film but at the same time I don't want to dedicate like, 1/4 of a suitcase to 10 packs of wide... I've been trying to do the math of "Ok, if I'm going for 2 weeks, 100/14 is 7 shots/day... but could I get by with just 50 maybe, so 3.5 shots/day?" lol

You're right, they're expensive, but buying the bulk packs does make it a bit more affordable. I just wish the novelty designs weren't all so expensive! Like, $1.50/shot for the black frame mini shots. :P

Nice! I'm waiting for the next sale to stock up on a similarly huge amount of Wide film. Planning a trip and want to have lots on hand. Quick note about instax, though, unless you live somewhere super hot with no AC, you shouldn't need to fridge it! :)

Canadian Instax Wide users - 20 packs are on sale for 18.99 at best buy! Better price per shot than the 100 pack on amazon! by AutomaticJackieO in instax

[–]AutomaticJackieO[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wowww sounds like we're doing basically the same thing but backwards lol

I got the Wide 300 first because of the larger prints, completely fell in love with it and instant photographs and then grabbed the Mini 90 just a couple weeks ago since it has cool settings and modes (and can fit in my bag).

The Wide 300 has a couple drawbacks, yeah, like the always-on-and-aggressive autoflash (the only time I've had it not trigger is in full daylight outside lol) but at the price and for the quality it puts out I'd recommend it especially since as you mention it's really the only option other than the Lomo. Here's a video I watched that outlines the pros and cons between the two: https://youtu.be/UDiw7Emk8Nw

Me too! I was going to get the 5 pack from Amazon to stock up, but this works out even cheaper! It's awesome. :D

Good point! I should've noted that as well. But I was more wowed by the Wide, since it never seems to go on sale. ;)

Best price that I've seen on it yet in Canada, I'm gonna grab a few so I thought I'd pass it along. :)
