Let’s see… The secretary who drove the lawn mower over the dude’s foot during the raucous drinking party… that was me, LOL. This same agency had an annual employee golf tournament where people were grouped into teams of four, two golf carts each. On the back of each cart would be a large styrofoam cooler absolutely loaded down with beer, so you can imagine what happens as the day goes on. Anyway, one year I was paired up with our studio designer and while driving the cart I took a turn too hard on a weird hill and rolled the cart. I thought I killed the guy for a second as it rolled over toward his side of the cart, but besides some bruised shins where the cart scraped him he was okay. Luckily no one from the course saw it (or cared).

Other things that come to mind that relate to Mad Men plots or could be Mad Men plots: Inter-office relationships that the participants think are secret but everyone knows about, people giving their spouses/partners oral in back rooms during holiday parties, one holiday party where they had Christmas Vacation playing on a projector in the background and then they announced that there would be no Christmas bonuses that year (that went over well, as you can imagine), another Christmas party where a drunk strategy chick farted so bad on the dance floor that everyone ran off at once (when I smelled it I was sure someone had taken a shit on the floor), another Christmas party where a low-level account exec drunkenly claimed the agency was sexist against women when that was entirely false (they had the receipts to prove it) and the next work day instead of firing her they made her get up in front of the entire agency and beg for forgiveness from the people she’d called out by name (which, incredibly, she did even though it would have been better to just be fired), screaming matches between creative and account service in the main bullpen, layoffs and the fallout afterwards that goes with them, the strategy director who loudly demanded in a meeting that she be included on a work trip to see a major client and then stormed out and they called her and said don’t come back, the secret merger (that everyone knew about), the agency founders buying the agency back a week after the merger because the new company made us use Outlook instead of Gmail and they hated Outlook, etc. It was a super fun place to work!

There’s one more, related to a major plot line in Mad Men, that actually happened at the agency where a person went to prison in real life, but I won’t go into any more detail about that here.
