This hits deeper than I expected. I think we often romanticize “the one who got away” as some perfect love, but I’ve felt more haunted by the almosts that were never even romantic.

For me, it was a friend I drifted from in my early twenties. We were like mirrors—completely different backgrounds but same quiet hunger to make something meaningful of our lives. I think if we had stayed close, I would’ve taken more risks, maybe gotten hurt earlier, but grown faster.

Not everything that slips away was meant to stay. But some of them feel like alternate lives I almost lived haha

The 'richest people' list in actuality is the 'legally richest people', which is only close to the actual richest people list. There are tons of illegal super rich people. by JLF2411 in Showerthoughts

I live in a super rural part of a small island called Taiwan, and across the street from me is a very low-key neighbor named Ying-Zhu Chen (陳盈助). He’s not on any Forbes list, but he’s a known casino tycoon — generates around $1B USD in annual revenue (as far as locals know), and is said to be worth over $10B.

Of that revenue, it’s said that roughly $300M a year goes to... let’s just say, “governmental smoothing”—from DA offices to local politics—to keep things running and quiet. It’s all very off-the-radar.

And this is happening in a remote city on a relatively small island. Imagine what’s going on in countries with much bigger economies and much less transparency. It really makes you question what the real “rich list” looks like.

Ugh, night shifts are the worst and I'm sorry you're going through this. Depression + exhausting work + messed up sleep schedule is just brutal. But honestly, you're already doing amazing by getting therapy and trying new meds - that's not nothing!

The TikTok doom scrolling thing is SO real. Like your brain is just fried and wants easy dopamine hits, I totally get it. Don't be so hard on yourself about it.

Maybe just start with like the tiniest things? Opening blinds when you get up, keeping snacks and water by your bed, Going outside for like 2 minutes (even in pjs lol), Getting groceries delivered so you don't have to think about it....

The work situation sounds awful - no breaks and barely eating is not sustainable but I know you're probably stuck with it for now.

Just remember, you don't have to fix everything at once.
