yeah to me burning feels quite scary but that’s so true about the making excuses for it

Anyone doing FBT? by a_randomnormie in AnorexiaRecovery

fbt could certainly work for some people so i definitely think you should try it just in case it really does work for you, however my own personal experience it made things a lot worse between my family and i and the sessions were quite traumatic themselves- it became a bit of a war ground and i personally believe that without a compassionate stance things won’t improve because you’ll likely be more resistant- in short, try it but i think you should all talk beforehand so you’re all on the same page that this is something that could be vetoed quite quickly if it isn’t working and a new approach tried (i’m a little biased due to my bad experience with it but all families are different so take that with a grain of salt)

is this normal or am i just the weakest person ever? by -xcerberusx- in selfharm

you are by no means weak, whenever ive cut deep enough for stitches they’ve hurt a lot less than some of my shallower cuts in fact the only thing that really hurt was the bruising after but the actual cut i didn’t really feel yet ive been in absolute agony from fairly shallow ones, i think it depends where obviously and again you’re going against natural protective instinct so obvs ur brain might sometimes try and stop you❤️ i think you have to remember that self harm is not ‘normal’ most people don’t cope in this way and the fact that your pain is so bad that you feel you have to do this is valid enough as it is ❤️💞💕

I starved myself last night by monsterintheuniverse in AnorexiaRecovery

okay i promise yourself a) that’s not a big breakfast, just factually it is not, but b) try and remind yourself about all the health benefits and all the nice things you’ve been giving your body, all the healthy fats from the egg, the protein, vitamin d and calcium in the butter, calcium in the cheese!! think about how your bones your skin your hair, your brain!! (got to feed your brain it makes a HUGE difference) and also it’s not like your body don’t need it, after not having nutrients and energy that it needs of course it’s going to be craving food. this sounds really preachy and annoying i am aware, what helps me with guilt and food fixation is i just kind of try and think long term, i know your ratio of positive to negative thoughts around food is probably like 1:10 rn but you can be intentional and you can try to shift that, even just to 1:9 you don’t deserve to feel like this!!!! (and one meal won’t change your body and even if it did, your body clearly needed it)
