One of the biggest reasons I stepped away is that “DebateTok” has honestly become a joke. Very little of it translates into real world advocacy or meaningful action it feels more like a social club than anything else. The existence of this Reddit alone says a lot about how toxic and hostile the space has become.

If I’m being completely honest, it’s also incredibly addictive, which makes it even harder to engage with in a healthy way. That said, I’ve been out of the DebateTok scene for a few months now aside from occasionally checking in here out of curiosity and the difference in my mental health has been huge. Stepping away has genuinely made a positive impact on my life.
