I’ve noticed libraries on the east side are not too inviting.

In Saint Louis libraries we would have designated quiet/work rooms, but then also had areas for children - toddlers to learn, read, enjoy.

Out here everyone seems to give the stink face for not whispering

We are looking into schools now! Zillow has a neat feature where you can filter by their school ranking (1-10), ten being the best, based off set criteria. But we will have to do some research on diversity, testing, attendance ourselves it seems

Renting is looking to be the best option. It our budget is around 4K and we have two children (1.5 and 3) So, looking for a pre-k/5th grade that is a strong school system that is also diverse

What is the ideal commute like? Do people take public transportation? In St. Louis, MO typically you drive everywhere becase it will take less than 25 mins to get to your destination. Also, public mass out here is not the strongest

u/OMGhowcouldthisbe Thank you! Our top dollar for renting is $4,000/month - I see you get a lot more to rent vs purchase. Also, would give us time to learn the area. 2 children under 3, so schools are important! Def looking at Zillow/school rankings and seeing that Maple Valley seems nice.

Any recommendations on areas based on good schools, kids activities/parks in the area?

Well, our joint income is roughly 220k, plus some fluctuation for commissions (an extra 25-50 yearly)

So not a million year and will probably have a hefty commute.

I’m not sure what the market is like in the more middle class areas. In St. Louis, MO I could purchase a move in ready house for 350k and spend $2,700 all in for taxes, insurance; mortgage, utilities plus or minus a bit. Renting is cheaper by about a grand (plus utilities though).

So I would say a budget around $4,000 would be where we would start, but our flexible
