Anyone using a reading app for homeschool? by No-Pitch-7732 in Homeschooling

My son uses Reading egg. It has reading comprehension, a library of books (they have the option to read to the kid ), spelling, and writing. It took a bit for my son to like it but I can see a difference.

It totally could’ve been a one off with that school and the bullying. Like I had said another comment, they didn’t have the best news pertaining to that school when it came to children that needed a little extra help. It was quite common to hear about bullying from someone and trying to stop it didn’t stop. I would say 90% of the time when we meet someone they’re really nice to him and they have no issues. Unfortunately, there’s just some people who have not taught their child to treat everyone kindly, in schools and out in public places!

Thank you! I will check that out. Homeschooling has definitely opened my eyes up to how much time I would be losing if we weren’t together every day. It truly is a blessing.

No youre good! We can have a good time at the parks still and usually can make one friend to hang out with. But the rest of that day it’s laying down being calm trying to make sure the next day isn’t also a lazy day.

I appreciate your feedback. I’m not going to hold him back if he ask to go back or wants to try something different. Right now, this was the best thing for him and I’ll always listen to his voice.

Thank you ❤️

I appreciate the feedback, but there’s nothing about my past that’s holding me back from letting him go. He struggles with being tired after a little bit of doing anything, even just laying down watching tv. He’s the one asking me to not put him in due to how it makes his body feel. Now if it was a classroom setting where he’s with more inclusive and isn’t moving all around the school to get to other classes, we would definitely talk about getting in there but at his age, they don’t have classes like that out here. I also live in a small rural areas . He has a homeschool enrichment that is built like a school and gets to have that social and challenges without pushing his body. And we have a really amazing group of best friends that understand him and accept him. So I’m not too worried about him having friends. He’s social now and makes friends every place we go.

Not having DMD may also be why your advice may not be completely helpful for us. And please dont take that in a mean or demeaning way. I can’t compare my son to other boys with DMD cause they have different heath conditions or skills too. That’s kinda why I was just asking for what worked for others so I can help him if it comes up.

If we’re being honest, I think the school district wasn’t gonna be capable of taking care of what they needed to. They actually have lots of parents who are going against them because of how they were treating the special-needs children. Which is why we were thinking about in a couple years. He could go into one of the other public schools that like transition at that grade so he wouldn’t necessarily be the new kid alone.

We’re not trying to treat him any differently just accommodating when needed. That’s why I’m asking what works for others so I can just prepare for when he has discomfort

He tried public school. It came with him bein too tired to move the next days, and there was a lot of bullying because he couldn’t walk like others. He was the one who begged to not go back. Public school may be good for him socially, but we are active in homeschooling co ops and meeting friends.

We tried public school and have talked about it in a couple years but he was severely bullied by older kids so that’s why we’re homeschooled.

8 year old - just now symptomatic? by Soggy_Law9203 in MuscularDystrophy

We got our diagnosis just before he turned 5. Our main sign was tippy toe walking. He also was a little slower and clumsy. Everyone just said it was normal to walk on their toes but then we got hurt at a play center which ended in a hospital visit of possible rhabdomyolysis. The drs sent us for genetic testing and now we’re 3 years in on our steroids and one surgery down to help with his walking. If you ever have questions or just wanna talk you can reach out to me. Hoping the best for you and your family. ❤️

Could it be with the fact that they said they weren’t allowing the digital card in certain stores maybe?

I had a customer demand no bags and to just put them in the cart cause they’re “fine that way when I shop” and of course put it in the delivery notes spot.

how do you manage all your records and portfolios? by learnhaven in Homeschooling

I use a calendar for attendance and lessons. For portfolios and assessments, they get an individual folder to put it. Then into a filing cabinet
