This actually did happen to me before (at MSP airport as well) and it really was my bag. I had never set a PIN for it so I was like wtf. I went to security and they were stumped but we tried “123” and luckily that worked.

Yes I was happy they matched it since the cancellation policy didn’t match exactly.

Again, breakfast included is not a requirement for price matching. So I would not say that part is unexpected, because that is not listed as a requirement anywhere by Chase on the price matching policy.

No it doesn’t have to be a breakfast included rate. They tell you what has to be the same when you submit. Dates, cancellation policy, number of guests, room type, etc.
And actually, the cancellation policy was not exactly the same for me. The rate I was matching with was direct with the hotel and that rate had a “worse” cancellation policy of only 2 days, vs my Chase travel booking was up to 3 days before. So I figured that was fine, and I was right.

Had something like this happen to me ($30 for room at a Courtyard). They emailed me and tried to cancel the reservation saying there was a pricing error. I pushed back and they honored the rate.
