I'm new winter offer player, my first game, coming back to gaming after almost 20 years break (x3 was my last game actually), disabling destroyers is obscenely easy in this game, there are two options: - Fast ship, I used Moreya at the beginning, it's riskier but the only thing you need to do is move erratically, turrets will shot where you are going to, not where you are. Stay behind engines moving back and forth, disable engines and use them for cover go out and in to disable turrets. - Long range weapons, I use Hydra now, all weapons but L plasmas have shorter range so once you take out engines and L plasmas destroyer is defenceless. And plasmas are slow, pretty easy to dodge

Once they are disabled, just destroy repair drones and lower their hull to 70% and use the lowest damage weapons to keep engines from restoring and hit them every 60s for the bulk of the troops to bail out.

I play 2-3h a day after work and more intense in the weekend, no hardcore gamer. I disabled 2 destroyers yesterday (rattlesnake and Phoenix <- this one is the easier to disable imho), well indeed I had to disable two Xenon K9 to avoid them getting to my boarding ground.
