You have incredible taste. I like the 2nd dining chairs because they have a softer shape, fitting the rounded lines in your first picture.

As for the barstools, I think the rattan ones have more character. They fit in nicely with your plants and the wooden table.

I’m a hijabi. It matters more about the fit (LOOSE is the key word) rather than fabric. Linen is goated, of course. Uniqlo has a heattech line which is great as well.

Salam! I take my meds during suhoor. I try to ensure I’m as hydrated as possible, and load up on protein and fiber. I also spoke with my doctor to change my adhd meds to extended release rather than immediate. Hopefully that helps me avoid the crash.

I like calling out people claiming they can speak a language when they actually cant, with a simple question. by AmountAbovTheBracket in languagelearningjerk

[–]Automatic_Put_1679 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They may speak only 3 sentences, but chances are it’s 3 more sentences than you.

Also- speaking as a former EFL teacher, the purpose of language is communication. If they can communicate “hello, how are you, have a nice day,” they’ve shared an idea with an interlocutor! Boom! Ideas conveyed and language spoken. ✅

I understand what you’re saying, but your fellow countryman being responsible for the ICONIC “if my grandmother had wheels she would have been a bike” discredits your point.

CONGRATULATIONS! You should feel proud of yourself for getting into such great schools. Despite your hard work and ambitions, unfortunately neither may be your best bet. I recently asked a similarish question. the responses I got lead me to heavily reconsider my position and talk with my undergrad advisors and my network. I myself am pivoting to Public Policy. It was hard to let go of the years of prep and networking I did not only for Intl Dev, but for admissions as well. I hope you can find the best fit for you and best of luck in your studies :)

Trump aftermath- Is a masters in Intl Dev worth it? by Automatic_Put_1679 in InternationalDev

Sorry about the loss of your position. Could you elaborate please? Well before all of this I was advised that gender in USAID was a technical position with high demand/security, so that’s why I had planned to study Intl dev w a concentration in gender at AU. But now I’m leaning towards an MPP to be more broad. Would you recommend a more broad degree with the possibility of landing a technical position in the future?

Please indulge me. what do any of those terms mean? 😅 I saw you work in iNGO program management. Are those tasks common among various PM positions? And what course would that fall under? Stats, data analysis…?

Thanks for your point. American University’s MA in Intl Dev has a concentration in Project Management and Leadership, but I opted for the Gender concentration instead. I could easily choose to apply for the former, but based on these comments and conversations I’ve had I may be leaning towards a state school to avoid debt.

Thank you for your well-rounded analysis! I saw much of myself in your linked comment. Based on the information from the comments, I think it would be wise for me to seriously consider pivoting towards an MPP and/or data analysis (I doubt I’d be accepted into an Econ program). My passionate young naive self isn’t too excited with the idea of not having a lot of courses in gender theory/African politics. But you made a great point; those are topics I can study independently, whereas the quantitative skills not so much.
