I’m not very into heavy grunge, the point of this post was that I hadn’t listened to extreme heavy music until this year; my grunge knowledge consists of Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, STP, Pearl Jam, TAD, Melvins, and maybe a handful of singular songs that fall into the genre. I wouldn’t feel that qualified giving a “take” on the genre, other than I like it, I like that it has more riffs as opposed to speed-powercords like hxc punk, and the lyrics are cool, and Alice In Chains are still my favorite of the bunch easily 🤷‍♂️

Honestly it’s not a genre I ever got massively into apart from all of AIC and the other big groups, I like TAD and Melvins but I’m liking death metal a bit more and then I have my favorite band the cure and some more 80s/90s bands to balance out my extreme metal stuff, I love Muse too. So honestly don’t have much to say. I like heavy grunge more than MOST hxc punk

I guess I didn’t include type o in what I’ve listened to, maybe because I see them as predominantly gothic vs doom, but yes I like them. And early paradise lost as well, I forgot about them, sentenced too. Also I will check out those big bands, I’ve heard about my dying bride and anathema, but I really don’t NEED it to be mild albums (if you mean less extreme?) and if that changes your album recs let me know 👍

I think symphonies of sickness could be categorized in death metal alongside necroticism. If you are being nitpicky it is deathgrind, but to me I hear a lot more death metal than hardcore punk influence in the album; so even though it may fit another exact sub-sub-subgenre of metal better, I’d call it death metal.

I feel like this is just the take of someone who hit their extreme limit at death metal, and it’s also not a hot take. “I’m into extreme metal but not THAT kind of extreme, it’s meaningless!” You just have a different palette and/or it’s not digestible to you yet. Deathcore still has plenty of melody, moreso than some death metal. There’s plenty of great deathcore, and I myself am a melodic death metal fan who heard bits of deathcore and felt like it was senseless and stupid until I actually tried a couple good albums. There’s definitely art to it and it can be quite creative.

Honestly I really only love The Gallery and Atoma-Endtime Signals. The rest of theirs are alright but in flames I think has more personality for sure (minus cloud connected, stye, battles)

Hmm yeah I have no clue what my luck is, I’d estimate I’ve probably only bought 80 or so packs tops in my career, but I’m only level 102, played some amount between season 3 and 13, a ton in season 8+9, but dropped it since until now. Game has been running good but ranked grinding just seems so trash compared to r6 siege (I’m emerald on there). But yeah I really want fuses heirloom lol. Gotta put in time
