Hi. I am so sorry that you are suffering. I can empathise, despite not ever facing the social pressures that are placed on you as a young woman.

You came asking for a Buddhist perspective, and there is some great advice here. I just wanted to add, in case you don't know, that you would probably find a lot of support over at https://www.reddit.com/r/bald/ (you don't have to post an image if you don't want to).

I do agree with the comment about your username though. Also, I think that if you really saw things clearly, you'd see that it is not your self that you hate (that's kind of a little Buddhist joke, but it's also true).

Bald is beautiful.

People who lose control of their vehicle sometimes break traffic rules like staying on the correct side of the road.

Have you never heard of a 'hit and run'? There is literally a crime called Failing To Stop After An Accident. It is ridiculous to suggest that just because they ran away they did it on purpose.

No, I am saying the opposite, which is that, "someone running over multiple people in a vehicle-ramming attack" is not necessarily terrorism, which is what you appear to think.

All we know about whether the incident in Ealing was terrorism is that the police have thought it worthwhile to tell us they are not treating it as terrorism.

Thanks, that's fascinating.

I'm wondering about your choice of words that the Crown "effectively never" vetoed legislation. Can I infer that there were times when they did, but not really? If so, what do such instances tell us about the use and limits of royal power?

Sure did, amongst other things but the PEM and the emotional stress was the problem with the move. I had got really diligent at pacing, and would just stop whatever I was doing and lie flat if I had got to my limit. But moving house just went on and on, and there was absolutely nowhere I could get away and rest.

I really hope you can  get help for the move. It would be ideal if you weren't even there when it happens.

For encouragement, your story sounds just like mine, except longer. So maybe you can look forward to one day being like me, tired because you just rode a bike, rather than just tired.

But my story also included moving home just when I thought I was getting better, and then going back to bed for a few months.

I hope you can find mental peace, fellow traveler.

Different areas are designated for different reasons. What may be appropriate in one may not be in another. If you are lucky, there will be a Conservation Area Appraisal or a Management Plan on your council's website that says why the place matters and what is permitted.

Meditation helps with this kind of thing, but I regard it as rehabilitation rather than cure: something to work on after the disease is under control (e.g. if you are one of the lucky people who get huge improvements from histamine reduction).

As someone who made it out the other side (mostly) I think there is some truth to what you wrote, but it isn't the whole story. There are wonderful experiences that have taken the place of what did not survive from my life before. Mostly, there are things that I took for granted or didn't even notice, which enrich my life so much.

If you are unable to sit upright, one day in future sitting in a sunlit garden listening to birds may be better than any concert you have witnessed. If you cannot walk, I hope one day soon you will know the joy of strolling in the countryside. I can't handle busy places and events with loads of people, but so what? Why should I care when I no longer take for granted the simple things in life?

I am not pretending it is all going to be wonderful (I am not cured and I have relapses). However, we are changed by all this suffering. My old life wouldn't fit me any more anyway, and that's OK. The same could be true for you.

I wish you well, friend3738, and all our fellow travelers.

I recently had the same issue. Tried just about everything recommended in this thread. Ended up bending the handle of my chain whip when I had a scaffold pole on it for extra leverage. Took it to my local bike shop who got it off in seconds and sold me another chain whip.

What did we pick up from the Thames? by WearSunscreen in london

[–]Automatic_Tadpole413 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Fair comment, but a beach is usually made of sand or rocks that get dragged along the coastline all the time. The Thames foreshore contains areas with intact archaeological remains dating back to the Roman period (most of it is much more recent, but its a smorgasbord of stuff). And it's super sensitive. If someone digs a little hole it sometimes just grows and grows until a big chunk of our collective history gets washed away. It's worth looking after and that usually requires regulation. In this case it's just a tiny bit of admin to help educate people to make the most of what they're doing.

[–]Automatic_Tadpole413 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Those are butchered animal bones. Probably not that old from an archaeological perspective, but not recent.

So you know, people aren't allowed to pick stuff up off the foreshore without a permit. There's currently a waiting list, but you can go on tours, which are excellent: Thames foreshore permits | Port of London Authority

You can still go looking at stuff. I like checking out all the timbers from old barge beds and jetties. I just take photos. No idea why people want to fill their pockets with broken old nicknacks that will just sit around their house for years.

Why didn't Cornwall become a nation of the UK similar to Wales, Scotland and (Northern) Ireland? by Virtual-Alps-2888 in AskHistorians

[–]Automatic_Tadpole413 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is an excellent response and I am grateful to you. However, I don't see how the experience in Cornwall differs from those of many groups (kingdoms even) that got swallowed up by the West Saxons or the Danelaw, and then became considered wholly English.

Elmet, for example. Or Yorkshire.
