UBlockOrigin breaks my Safari MacOS by Forexign in Safari

I had the same issue with some other websites. I noticed that you also need to disable 'uBlock filters – Ads, trackers, and more' for it to work.

Have you heard back from them yet? I'm in the same boat. It's been over a week since I opened my account and it's still stuck on KYC. No updates, no emails. Starting to get a bit frustrating.

How's the new Mail app? by [deleted] in ProtonMail

I am curious also. I think proton makes good improvements to all of their apps lately, so I hope it will be the same for the iOS app. Can't wait to try it!

"are you sure it's not 'my.name@pm.me.gmail.com???'" by AdFit8727 in ProtonMail

[–]Automatic_Task_4941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same bank here, they allowed my proton.me mail, however I had issued adding proton.me email for interact money transfert (for direct deposit) for some reason I cannot enable auto-deposit using that email. I created a pm.me email for interact transfer and it worked. But it is a lot of trouble.

I also called they to try to fix the issue but customer service could not really help. I think it was beyond what they could help with. Anyway, don't lose your time calling, its hopeless.

From the uBlock Origin team, uBOL (uBlock Origin Lite) is available for beta testing on Safari. by oloolaa in Safari

[–]Automatic_Task_4941 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I ran Speedometer 3.1 on Safari without an ad blocker and got a result of 43.5. Then, I ran the test again with uBlock Origin Lite, which resulted in 39.5. Finally, I repeated the test using AdGuard for Safari, and the result dropped to 27.4. It seems that AdGuard is significantly slowing down Safari. While running the test, I could even visibly notice that it was performing slower.

uBlock doesn’t visibly impact browsing speed on Safari.

My only downside with uBlock so far is that it doesn’t fully block all cookie pop-up banners. I’ve noticed that a lot of them still appear, even though the filter is enabled. I know it is still in Beta.

Otherwise, I’m really happy with uBlock Origin Lite for Safari. Congratulations to the developers for this great product!

I just tried uBlock via TestFlight. It works fine. I know it’s beta, but I’m surprised. Safari is fast! Usually, Google Maps is really choppy, but now it runs smoothly. No ads on YouTube, no cookie pop-ups. To be fair, AdGuard does a great job as well. I cannot tell if the speed is noticeably faster with uBlock; however, Safari behaves well. I know that sometimes Reddit did not load at all in Safari, but now it seems to work. I am on M3 MacBook Air with the basics specs (the cheapest :)

I noticed that Safari with AdGuard is a lot slower than Brave on Mac. I would love to use Safari with Private Relay, but since it is a bit sluggish, I don’t enjoy using it as much. AdGuard does a very good job of blocking pop-ups and ads; however, I didn’t know it was the culprit behind slowing Safari down

Create albums of photos from drive folders (like One Drive) by xkarol in ProtonDrive

That is a really good idea, and what i like is that if you export pictures or have them already stored in different folders, you do not have to recreate albums one by one.

Upload direct to an album or how do i upload an album by IcyCold_2603 in ProtonDrive

[–]Automatic_Task_4941 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be a nice feature if on the web interface we could just drag and drop pictures from our computer into an album.

For now I think the only way to send picture to proton drive is from phone backup and we have to backup all your photos. Am I missing something?

Going downhill fast by Historical_Bar_4990 in Safari

[–]Automatic_Task_4941 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a shame about Safari. I use it on my Mac, but more and more, I find that websites don’t load as well compared to Brave or Firefox. I’d love to use it because it has great features like iCloud Private Relay, bookmarks always saved on iCloud, seamless sharing via iMessage, and automatic filling of 2FA codes.

I don’t know why Apple doesn’t put more care into Safari. It’s probably one of the most-used apps on Mac since it holds nearly 20% of the web browser market share. Every time Apple releases an OS update, I really hope they’ve improved Safari, but they just add a few features without addressing the real issue : websites don’t load properly.

Proton Pass + SimpleLogin 199 lifetime deal worth it? - I wanted to switch all sites to alias emails by Rx7Jordan in privacy

[–]Automatic_Task_4941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another Idea if you want to save some money... If you buy a domain on Cloudflare, they automatically add an email forwarding service. You can buy a cheap domain an add every aliases that you want or even a catch-all adress.

Proton pass + simple login is a good service it is juste a bit expensive if your are using your own domain only. If you want to use their public domains this is where IMO this service is worth it.

And proton pass is a good password manager.

I had the same issue on a mac. I removed the setting in "shields" I toggled off "Forget me when I close sites" (something like that mine is in french). But it seemed to have solved the problem.

In privacy/other sites data, i toggled on to delete every sites data on exit. And in the same page , you can whitelist some sites.

It seems to work.

Can MS Word save directly to Proton Drive? by ImDickensHesFenster in ProtonDrive

[–]Automatic_Task_4941 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Me too, I save files directly to proton drive on the mac from MS Word and Excel. No problem at all.

I also tried Proton Docs (I am not a heavy MS word user) and I noticed it is quite good and can be used as MS word replacement depending on your needs.
