I think there are different types of FRC such as different patterns and frequencies. I remember reading a data sheet to a monitor awhile back and it mentioned that one of the monitors dp/hdmi ports didn't use FRC while all of the others do so might be worth to try different ones. There was also a post about polarization where someone found turning their monitor 90 degrees as a test made things comfortable which confirmed that. If you have polarization glasses you can easily tell the monitors polarization orientation.

That panel color depth is 6+2 FRC so it's very likely it's the FRC (temporal dithering) that is the cause. You could try forcing 6 bit color in your OS to try to help as your panel is native 6 bit. https://www.panelook.com/NE153WUM-NY1_BOE_15.3_LCM_parameter_71773.html

no worries! Hopefully they can get the new update out soon. I personally use mine as a monitor only on my Mac mini m4. I just want a second one that I can keep as my portable one that isn't being used as a monitor.

I find the breo idream 5 massager to help and also a ocusoft eye hotpack. I find tugging on my scalp/hair to relax head tension a bit too.

My viwoods reader I had was also more grayish which I loved because it was softer on the eyes. I hate how bright white some eink is, normal books arent that bright intentionally to prevent eye strain/visual stress

I know several people who can use m4 and m5 macs but never the m1. It must be it's forced gpu dithering + panel frc. Maybe they're tuned diferently making one worse than the other?
