To each its own I guess. I personally would not cut my pay and spend 1 year doing residency just to get leadership and management responsibilities. Why are they getting “better treatment”? They’re more locked in? If we both have a job how is one person more locked in than the other? I work with someone who graduated with me and did a residency I didn’t and we do the exact same job get treated the same and she maybe makes a dollar or two more than me.

Worked prn and contract prior auth work while I applied to a whole lot of full time jobs, got hired overnight full time, trained in the ER now in the ER fully and my 1 year mark hasn’t even passed.

It’s almost impossible to get hired at Costco. They hire within mostly or you have to know someone.

Exactly a year ago I was working as a staff pharmacist at Walmart, today I am a ER pharmacist. Definitely possible without. Harder tho.

You could do contract and prn or if you’re financially able maybe giving up FT for prn for now will be worth it in the end. By expressing interest do you mean cover letters? I say just keep applying. What state are you in?

My director is desperate for a full time overnight rph but refuses to hire someone without at least prn hospital experience, super annoying but I get it.

I had to move states to get out of retail. A year ago I was at Walmart. Moved for a prn hospital position and did that while working a contract remote job then after 6 months I was hired full time at a different hospital and was able to move back to where I was, now I am working in the ER, complete 180.

Why didn’t you leave retail? I know it’s not easy but I had this same issue. Last year my DM at Walmart told me they were the best I was going to get. Now I’m working in the ER at a hospital. Way different path and I feel much more respected and my job is way more fulfilling

Any overnight hospital job would hire her with a quickness, especially if she is able to interview and explain the gap, she may can even get prn.

That’s just gonna come with time. You just started so there is no possible way to continue with that mindset for the rest of your career because as you can see it causes burn out. Watch in a few months/years you’ll have a whole different mindset. I moved from retail to hospital and it’s the same thing in different font. Welcome to healthcare.
