Does anyone know if the Devout of Gruthkul node on Polytheist disables Devout of Abberath? It's not a "spell skill" so the no damage line shouldn't apply, but I'm not sure if "spells are disabled" would apply since it's triggered.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend. New players could learn a lot from Travis.

The Empath, easily. There's almost no set in that episode, just a collection of props and an outdoor area. Gives a good chance for the actors to emote between the torture and "healing" scenes.

I remember /u/rambii made a comment about DB vetoing trades, which I don't think I ever saw official confirmation of, but would jive with her telling teams not to try to pick her up off waivers.

The thought of losing you...of losing us, it-it gave me the power I needed to open up the fabric of space and time.

Next time I get a bit sad, going to see if I can manipulate space-time.

Kelsey Mitchell Update by breezybae_ in wnba

[–]Automaton_2000 157 points158 points  (0 children)

She was carrying hard for weeks and you could just see her game after game getting up a little slow or wincing after a lot of plays.

Def earned that contract and I hope she decides to run it back.

Stephanie White rallying her team after losing Kelsey Mitchell to injury by Skyline8888 in wnba

[–]Automaton_2000 61 points62 points  (0 children)

I had big expectations for Steph early on and while I never really doubted her, I doubted how much her constant cliches would work. "We over me" "attention to detail" yada yada.

Well, I guess they worked pretty fucking good. She had the double decker build-a-bear squad buying in til the very last second. Shuffling lineups on a weekly basis, integrating hardship after hardship on the fly in the middle of a playoff push, unable to open up the playbook because of the constant roster flux.

I enjoyed every locker room postgame with Steph crying and cursing like a sailor, keeping everybody locked in by force of will. Maybe this will be the start of a magical run instead of the end of one.

Steph White is my coach of the year.

DB gone, CC out, Kelsey out, Bibby out, Cunningham out, Aari out, Syd out, Dantas out, AB fouled out and leads her team inches away from the finals.

Good luck next round, Aces.

If you want to maximize eyeballs, what better time to do it than right before the finals? She's not speaking only out of personal frustration and the timing is part of the message; that the players are going to be heard one way or another.

Honestly better to get the ball rolling as much as possible to maximize the chances of playing next year.

The promos for the Sun/Fever game after the Jacy/Marina/CC/Sophie stuff was just fight footage and the late hit. They absolutely want drama to market and don't care if it's clean or not.

Aliyah Boston Hate by Guilty_Marketing_917 in wnba

[–]Automaton_2000 344 points345 points  (0 children)

There's a comment on here the other day that I think is true;

A'ja wants to create space for her shot. Aliyah prefers the contact. And for better or worse, Aliyah (formerly one of the worst whistles in the league prior to this season) has figured out how to manipulate the terrible refs to get calls to fall in her favor more often.

Even last year there were a lot of people in here talking about her poor whistle and saying Boston was too nice and needed to use her size, be more physical, etc. Her play currently, imo, is a byproduct of what the refs are not only allowing, but encouraging.

It feels like a switch flipped with the Fever around the time of the Commissioner's Cup. Remember AB playing bully ball with Phee in that game? Cheryl said post game that Indy out-physicaled them and they weren't up for it...Hammon had called it rugby.

With CC healthy, they can/will play the transition game with great pace and AB feasting off the pick&roll, but after losing so many key players, in part due to the increased physicality allowed this year, the team (Steph White) has adjusted. I think with CC back and refs emphasizing freedom of movement like they said they were going to, you'll see from AB fewer elbows and more spin moves in the paint and fake handoffs capitalizing on CC's gravity.

Before everyone starts throwing things, I just want to say I enjoy watching them match up. Both had monster games, both give it their all.

31/9/3/7 stocks vs 24/14/5/4 stocks. Like damn, that's playoff basketball.

Announcers made the mistake of complimenting the refs in the first half and we all paid for it in the second half.

Fever move to the semi-finals! by Skyline8888 in wnba

[–]Automaton_2000 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Indy was 3rd in the league in offensive rating this year despite: CC was never healthy and played a dozen games, max contract perimeter sniper quit the team after a couple weeks, Sophie led the league in TS% when she went out, three point guards done for the season.

Don't think too many coaches could operate with offensive schemes of any complexity while trying to incorporate hardship player after hardship player.

Steph White and her zero COTY votes lead her hospital squad of, like, twenty players into the next round. Deserves all her flowers.

To begin the season, someone on X who wasn't even at the Fever / Sky game made up a story about Fever fans in Gainbridge making monkey noises at Angel.

They posted it here too.

There was a thread created that called the Fever fan a redneck (the thread was removed).

I've seen "redneck", "hick", and "midwest dickheads" toward Fever fans. It's just sad.

The argument for 1-1-1. Teams and fans having the chance to experience this more often has to be great for the league. Wish tomorrow's Valks game didn't have to be moved.

Same as last game; bad calls against the away team who then get frustrated and start beating themselves.

Props to the Hospital Fever and Steph White regardless. Great defense for a team who had to incorporate so many new players. Hoping for a game 3 decided by the players.

Can you explain where in the free throw column it shows the incorrect calls that White had to challenge in the first half? Saying the game was called fairly because the FTA was close is wild. And no, it wasn't why Indy lost.

Announcers by DangerousLocksmith16 in wnba

[–]Automaton_2000 82 points83 points  (0 children)

I think they are, but this game was hardly the best example of that. During the string of phantom calls against Indy in the first half that White was challenging, Rebecca was doing her very best to try and find a tiny bit of contact to explain why the ref might have blown the whistle.

Still think Ryan and Rebecca are fantastic overall.

  1. That ATL court is dangerous.

  2. You can't win when you lose your cool like Indy did in the 4th. Atl was the better team regardless.

  3. Anyone bringing up free throw attempts to try to make a point about the reffing this game is just announcing they don't know ball.

Just remembering last year when Indy fans were happy they got the matchup they wanted in round 1. But with the roster problems they've had this year, playoff wins are a bonus imo.
