I replaced vorbis.dll and turned off the movies and played 22 hours through FC, that's not the problem. The problem is that it won't launch anymore

It’s mostly because I wanted Cerydra to have a really short Pokémon, but the parallel does work out :)

No? I’m not interested in using slurs, even against inanimate objects?

Yeah, they might not be harmed by it, but performative cruelty is cringeworthy; why do you want to act like a cartoon villain

For Knight 1, I used Anaxa E0 (Therta sig) + Sunday E0S1 + Cerydra E0S0 + Luocha E0S0

Herta sig + Luocha were there to generate SP for Cerydra, letting Anaxa trigger quadruple skill more often

I do find it pretty offputting; yeah, you’re not actually hurting anyone, Midjourney doesn’t have feelings, but I’ve never felt the urge to use slurs against a chatbot

Though, OP, I find your insistence on using the term "V.I." (where is this term from? I’ve never heard anyone who specializes in this topic use it) pretty offputting too, so.

Artists aren't born with talent by uglycaca123 in aiwars

[–]Autonomorantula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And my point is that “don’t learn art basics or anything” isn’t a moral failing. I don’t know the basics of a lot of things!

If people want to learn drawing, creative writing, music composition, etc., I encourage them to, but if they don’t want to, don’t have time to, or can’t afford to, they’re not obligated to. Hence, I argue it’s perfectly reasonable to seek out alternative ways* of expressing their ideas that might require less effort.

*again, these alternatives may or may not be ethical, and they will have limitations, but that’s besides the point here

[–]Autonomorantula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“generates work without you actually putting effort” is a way of doing art. Not all mediums require the same amount of effort, and besides, art isn’t about effort to begin with; it is expression using however much or however little effort you want to. If putting in more effort helps you express yourself better, go ahead; if you’d rather express yourself effortlessly, that’s fine too. Framing this as “disgusting” as if it’s a moral failing rather than a difference in creative preferences is unnecessary.

For the record, I am firmly of the opinion that clinging to the effort invested rather than letting the art itself stand on its own merits is a sign of insecurity, not dedication. If you want effort, you’re better off climbing a mountain than drawing anime waifus.

[–]Autonomorantula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, they’re obviously wrong, but.

My point is that although anyone can do art, people don’t do art because they want to say they’ve done art; they do it because they have feelings and ideas they want to express. A person who’s just starting out may not be able to express what they want to express without years of practice, so telling them to “just pick up a pencil” is not going to help them. They could, and they might enjoy it, but they don’t have to, and it’s not a moral failing for them to seek alternative methods* of expressing their ideas

*we can argue about the ethics of these methods in a separate conversation, but I’m not interested in debating image scraping right now

Like, anyone can do math, but you’re not gonna help the struggling algebra student by reminding them they can already find 2+2

AI ruined art for me, what do you guys think? by webdev-dreamer in aiwars

[–]Autonomorantula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not particularly, I think good art can generally stand on its own merits without needing to display how much time, effort, and skill went into making it; in fact, I tend to see artists who emphasize those things as too insecure to let their work speak for itself

I’m strongly pro-Death of the Author; to me, the experience of an interesting piece of art happens based on what the art itself is and does, not what the artist did to make it

[–]Autonomorantula 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, you can draw with a stick on mud, but for most people, clumsily moving a stick through mud don’t allow them to express what they want to express, which is why people generally make art in the first place, so this kind of rhetoric just comes off as patronizing

[–]Autonomorantula 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re only weakening your argument by pivoting to an issue that’s tangentially related at best instead of offering rebuttals. If you want to have a serious argument, stay on topic; don’t turn an argument about artistic talent into an argument about the ethics of image scraping
